Day 1 to 4Welcome to Vienna, Austria

Fly to Vienna and check in to one of the city’s finest hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, Vienna. With elegant architecture, stylish décor, and first-class amenities, the hotel makes an ideal base for any discerning traveller to the city. Exuding history and heritage at every turn, Vienna has a timeless beauty that is sure to impress. After three nights you will embark luxury river cruiser, Riverside Mozart, for your journey along the Danube.

Day 5Melk and Ybbs, Austria

Travel to Melk, where the abbey is home to Benedictine monks still living and dedicating their lives to culture and education, before arriving in the charming town of Ybbs. Here, there’s a chance to enjoy a walk or perhaps find a Heurigan, an open-air wine restaurant to relax in. There is also the option to do an excursion to the Artstetten Castle and Museum today, a picturesque castle where descendants of the royal family still live, surrounded by beautiful parkland.

Day 6Linz, Austria

Arrive in Austria’s third largest city, famed for its impressive main square and charming old town. During your time here you might want to visit some of the fantastic museums and the city’s impressive Neo-Gothic cathedral is certainly worth a visit. Full-day tours to Salzburg and Cesky Krumlov give you the option to explore further afield.

Day 7Linz and Engelhartszell, Austria and Passau, Germany

Starting the day in Linz, continue to Engelhartzell, best known for its abbey and the Schütz Art Museum. There’s time to visit this impressive museum on the banks of the Danube, whilst a walking tour offers an insight into the history and traditions of the Engelszell monastery. Arriving at Passau in Germany you can join fellow guests on a stroll through the city, which is located on the confluence of three rivers and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Germany.

Day 8Passau, Germany

On the last day of your river cruise, you have the option to visit one of Germany’s most beautiful and historic cities, Regensburg. Over 1000 listed buildings and a UNESCO World Heritage-listed medieval old town are an enviable backdrop as you explore, but the highlight of the excursion is surely the Thurn and Taxis Palace, a stunning example of Baroque architecture with opulent interiors and meticulously landscaped gardens. Your cruise ends in Passau, where you disembark.
