Spend a night in Dehli en route to Ladakh. If time permits, why not explore some of the sights? Historic attractions – such as the UNESCO-listed Red Fort and Humayun’s Tomb – stand alongside tall skyscrapers, diplomatic enclaves, shopping centres, tree-lined avenues.
Fly to Leh and meet your Expedition Leader for your transfer to The Grand Dragon.
Breakfast
Sitting at 11,400 feet above sea level, a couple of days in Leh are required for you to acclimatise gently for your onward ascent. While here, meet with the staff at the glorious Snow Leopard Conservancy, learning more about the threats that these amazing animals face, and the strategies in place to protect them. Explore the labyrinthine streets and bazaars of Leh, as well as the Royal Palace and impressive Thiskey monastery perched on a hillside. A classically Tibetan city, pass-by locals adorned in national dress, as well as a range of impressive birdlife.
Transfer to the Snow Leopard Lodge, Ulley. On the way, marvel at the spectacular mountain scenery and visit one of Ladakh’s Buddhist monasteries.

While in Ulley, almost 4,000 metres above sea level, you’ll stay at the Snow Leopard Lodge with a Ladakhi family, sharing the large kitchens that are the heart of their homes and learning more about their self-sufficient way of life. Your expert snow leopard guide will use a network of local intelligence to track down the cats, leading you across three scenic valleys both on foot and by 4WD. Other wonderful wildlife species you may spot include wolf, Himalayan fox and many predatory birds. While in the mountains, you can also learn about local folklore and traditions, promising an eye-opening Himalayan expedition.
Transfer to The Grand Dragon, Leh. On the way, explore the ancient Tibetan monastery of Alchi, one of the earliest built in the entire Ladakh region back in the 11th century.
Back in Leh, spend your final night in India at The Grand Dragon Hotel, located in the heart of the ancient city and adorned with paintings by internationally acclaimed landscape artist, Gulam Mustafa.
Fly to Delhi and transfer to the JW Marriott Hotel, Delhi to freshen up before your flight. Then, transfer to Delhi International Airport your flight to the UK.
