A Specialist's Insight on The Latest Update to One&Only Le Saint Geran

Find out more about One&Only Le Saint Geran's Private Homes...

Mauritius has long been a top choice for luxury holidays in the Indian Ocean, known for its breathtaking beauty and serene atmosphere. This idyllic island is now even more appealing, especially for multi-generational family holidays and group getaways.
Earlier this year, One&Only Le Saint Géran introduced its new Private Homes, an unparalleled collection of luxury residences in Mauritius. These homes redefine bespoke travel, offering more space, amenities, and options for those travelling with friends or family.
In this exclusive interview, our Luxury Travel Specialist Sam Shone shares her first-hand insights, revealing what truly sets this new accommodation option apart. Read on to learn why One&Only Le Saint Geran Private Homes are the perfect choice for your next luxury group or family trip to Mauritius.

One&Only Le Saint Géran's Private Homes are unlike anything else in Mauritius-do you have to own a private home to experience it?

SS

Whilst there are private homes available to buy, no you do not have to do so. Many of these homes are available on a rental basis for your holiday, giving you that home away from home feel without going all in. Our partnership with One&Only means our guests have access to this incredibly stylish short-term stay.

How do these differ from the other accommodation of One&Only Le Saint Geran?

SS

The accommodation at Le Saint Geran, whilst still very luxury, feels like a resort, whereas the Private Homes is more like an exclusive estate of villas. The homes are all stand alone and very private. So much so that they're on an exclusive peninsula.

Le Saint Geran only has one villa (Villa One) on site, and understandably that is in very high demand. Villa One is also just two bedrooms, where the Private homes are built for ultra-luxury family and group stays, offering between two and six bedrooms.

What can people expect from these private homes?

SS

Exclusivity, space, privacy and a very high standard of accommodation. I was very impressed with them on my visit; they are modern, light, and relaxed but at the same time really high spec. All have their own private pool, a private outdoor space and barbecue terrace, and one of the perks of these being Private Homes is the fully equipped kitchen.

Guests staying in the Private Homes will also have a dedicated host throughout their stay, and private check-in at the home.

Those staying in the private homes will still have access to all the main hotel facilities like the Guerlain Spa, but are there any facilities exclusively for these guests? And how easy is it to access the facilities of One&Only Le Saint Geran?

SS

The facilities are all very easily in reach despite the privacy of these stays. All Private Homes are supplied with bicycles and depending on your location it would only be around 10 minutes to the resort. There is also a 24/7 buggy service that can take you there.

RIVA is a space exclusively for Private Homes guests, which features an Italian restaurant, pool, bar and gourmet deli.

What are you most excited for guests to experience during their stay here?

SS

This is a whole new concept for Mauritius, and One&Only, so it's an exciting introduction. I am most excited for guests to experience the Beach Club as this is a rare addition in Mauritius.

Obviously, with these homes starting at two bedrooms, they're a perfect choice for multi-generational family holidays. But how else do they foster that feeling of togetherness?

SS

It really is a home away from home, so a lot of the spaces have been designed to have everyone together and congregate as a family. The private pool has a large decking and terrace area, and the dining areas are very spacious. The personalised host also means that it's really easy to arrange any outings and experiences to enjoy together.

Do you have any suggestions on how guests can get the most out of this type of accommodation?

SS

I would utilise the hotel facilities to experience that 'holiday' feeling of being well looked after and then be able to 'escape' back to the privacy and space of your private home.

In-villa dining and catering is also available, and whilst you'll have access to a lot of great restaurants, I think it would be a lovely option to hire a chef to prepare dinner for your whole family - really embrace this relaxed, easy-going ethos.
