The magnificent Aravalli Mountain range acted as a natural defence and the city remained protected from the fiercest warriors including the Mughal armies. Visit amazing sites, including SajjanGarh, the Monsoon Palace of Udaipur royalty, the stunning City Palace Museum, portraying fascinating aristocratic history of Mewar, or further afield, head over to the mountain pass of Haldighati, situated 40 kilometres from the city, which witnessed the battle between MaharanaPratap and the Mughals in 1576.
