Culture & History
While exploring the city sights, do take the short trip down to the nearby Ocean Terminal at Leith, where Her Majesty's Royal Yacht Britannia is berthed. This historic ship has played host to countless dignitaries over the years and members of the British royal family holidayed on it annually, until it was taken out of service. The yacht is incredibly well-maintained and it is possible to walk through many of the state rooms and see other private areas of the ship, such as the Queen's bedroom - you can even see the Queen's Rolls-Royce Phantom, which is housed on board. By turns, opulent and understated, the yacht is a classic piece of British history and provides a fascinating insight into the royal family.
The Balmoral extends the warmest welcome to younger guests of all ages, with its dedicated kids' programmes, designed to ensure that children – from babies through to teenagers – enjoy every aspect of their Balmoral experience. Special touches include the Families R Forte passport, an Owl Teddy Turndown Service and teen spa treatments. Children can enjoy books, movies, games, children’s meals and milk and cookies at turndown.
24-hour babysitting is available on request.
