Accompanied by a local historian, explore the cobbled streets of fascinating Paraty, where you'll pass by dozens of astounding churches. You will also learn more about how the town was built to serve the Portuguese crown and its role in Brazilian history, including how it was greatly influenced by the freemasons and the gold rush many years ago.
Board a regional fishing boat - complete with guide and captain - from a nearby pier and navigate to Praia Vermelha, before heading towards Cotia and Algodão islands. There will be plenty of time to swim and snorkel as you make strategic stops in scenic locations including Saco da Velha, before choosing which local restaurant to dine in, where you'll savour the catch of the day! If you're feeling adventurous, ask your guide to take you to the Pão de Açúcar hilltop, where a one hour walk leads you to breathtaking views over the Mamanguá fjord.
Following a short Jeep transfer from Paraty, you'll arrive at the Graúna region's waterfalls. A short five-minute trek leads you to the first falls, while a further 20 minutes will see you arrive at a second. Sample a taste of the owner's homemade cachaça - made from local sugar canes - before having lunch at Le Gite, which has its very own waterfall, idyllic for a post-lunch swim. Before returning to Paraty, stop by another local distillery to meet Maria Izabel, who produces one of Brazil's best cachaça single-handedly in her seaside residence.
