After walking just 15 minutes from the informative visitor centre, you will be awed by a spectacular view of the main crater. At just less than a mile in diameter, the crater’s fascinating, rain-fed sulfuric pool still bubbles and emits smoke into the air, while the surrounding Laguna Botos is a beautiful blue-green lake. With the exception of the area around the main caldera, the National Park boasts lush, green vegetation that is home to no less than 79 species of birds - including the famous quetzal, emerald toucanet, black guan and hummingbird - which can be spotted in the designated protected zone.
Situated at a perfect elevation for coffee growing, Finca Rosa Blanca offers an in-depth tour of the coffee farm, the processing plant and the roasting house.
