Safari
Forty kilometres from Kruger National Park, and close to the scenic areas of Mpumalanga and Limpopo Provinces, as a result of a successful animal relocation programme, Camp Jabulani supports a wide variety of game including elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros, giraffe, zebra, blue wildebeest, waterbuck, kudu and many other species of antelope with predators including lion, leopard, cheetah and the spotted hyena. Over 350 species of bird have been recorded.
Guests are welcome to visit the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (about a 30 minute drive through the reserve in open safari vehicle) where guests can witness feeding sessions of various rare African vultures and get up close and personal with cheetahs.
Wildlife Encounters
Camp Jabulani is truly a remarkable place. More than just a lodge for safari-goers, Camp Jabulani is an elephant orphanage; a sanctuary for elephants who have previously been abandoned or wrongly treated. Jabulani (longest resident and credited for inspiring the camp's name) was orphaned just months after his birth and the workers rescued the young elephant with the intention of nursing him back to health and reintroducing him into the wild, but Jabulani had other plans and refused to leave - returning time and time again to resume his place amongst the humans. Without a doubt, the elephants steal the show at Camp Jabulani, these enormous, yet graceful mammals move almost without noise so other animals are rarely disturbed. In the evenings, guests can admire the elephants as they indulge in 'bathtime'.
Romance
Situated in Kapama Game Reserve, Camp Jabulani epitomises the perfect romantic getaway. Exclusivity and privacy is assured, with luxurious suites providing plunge pools to glass-enclosed showers, with views of the spectacular bushveld. Make your honeymoon an unforgettable safari experience as you explore the local wildlife on thrilling game-drives and guided bush walks, interact with Camp Jabulani elephants, then retreat to the safari spa and unwind before settling down to a private romantic candlelit dinner.
Spa Breaks
Camp Jabulani's idyllic outdoor Therapy Lapa is tucked away amongst dense African foliage, increasing guest interaction with African nature. Escape here for a variety of body treatments, clay wraps, skincare therapies and oil-based massages. The spa treatments all have charming, African-inspired names such as the Vervet Monkey Vitamin Facial and the Buffalo Muscle Treatment. A real favourite is the Hippopotamus Body Wrap; not as insulting as it sounds, the procedure has ache-reducing properties, ideal if you suffer from persistent muscle pains.
