Wildlife Encounters
At low tide, a short outing by boat leads to regular sightings of Black Bears, rummaging through rocks for crabs and other fishy titbits. Sometimes you can glimpse them closer to the Outpost, this time in search of berries and meadow grass. Travelling further afield offers the chance to see huge colonies of seals and somewhat vocal sealions, lumbering on volcanic shores, not to mention amazing encounters with Gray, Humpback and Orca whales, some passing through on migratory routes, others hanging around all year. The Outpost's joint bear and whale-watch is not-to-miss, escorted by marine guides.
Spa & Wellness
The Healing Grounds Spa showcases a menu of restorative therapies in a blissfully peaceful setting. Along with the treatment rooms, there are waterfront massage tents, wet and dry saunas featuring picture windows, cedar hot tubs filled with spring water, a yoga room and ample outdoor space to indulge in post-treatment naps or simply take in the scenery. Treatments range from Thai and Hot Stone Massage, to nailcare and traditional razor shaves for gents. Those that need to expend more energy to find their inner calm will find a fitness suite and miles of running trails along the water's edge.
In Addition
Activities including horse-riding, bear and whale-watching, treks, hiking, rock-climbing, clay-shooting, mountain-biking and archery are available, as are freshwater fishing gear, boats and experienced, first-aid-trained wilderness guides. Additionally, the lodge offers complimentary adventure gear for use during your stay, including riding boots and helmets, rain gear, floatation devices and whale-watching suits.
