Dining & Gourmet
Copacabana Palace offers three restaurants with a truly unforgettable dining experience in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. MEE is one of the first restaurants in South America to be awarded with a Michelin Star, with stunning culinary creations crafted by the renowned chef, Ken Hom and Executive Chef, Kazuo Harada. The exquisite dining experience doesn't stop there, as Hotel Cipriani Restaurant is an award-winning restaurant and considered to be one of the best restaurants in Rio. Don't forget to have unforgettable drinks at Copacabana Piano Bar or try the renowned Sunday Brunch at Pergula Restaurant, overlooking Copacabana Palace's famous swimming pool.
The hotel's beach service, on Copacabana Beach, provides sun loungers, umbrellas and chilled water to hotel guests, while Beach Assistants are on-hand to look after your personal belongings if you wish to venture for a walk along the sands or take a dip in the sea.
The hotel’s spa is an urban sanctuary kitted out in a contemporary style, featuring nine treatment rooms − including two designed for couples, a hair salon, sauna, steam bath and relaxation area. A wide range of treatments, that use the AYASPA brand of organic products, derived from açaí and guaraná fruits, white clay from the Amazon and essential oils, include rituals and massages that purify, tone and revitalise.
There is also an air-conditioned fitness centre that boasts the latest cardiovascular and resistance workout equipment. Stretching classes, personal trainer and power plate sessions are also available.
In addition there is a swimming pool − one of Rio’s largest, with a team of Pool Assistants ready to cater to your every wish from handing you clean towels to delivering a refreshing drink or a snack from the pool menu. If you would prefer to stretch your limbs by doing a sporty activity, a game of tennis can be arranged for you.
Culture & History
The hotel offers a range of excursions including a half-day tour that takes you through the Tijuca Forest, to Corcovado Hill to see the statue of Christ the Redeemer and then take a cable-car ride up to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain. If you'd prefer to explore by foot, there is a guided historic walking tour that starts with a ride along the subway to downtown where you will hear all about Rio's royal, colonial and religious heritage, stopping at points of interest including Tiradentes Palace, the 18th century Paço and the 17th-century São Bento Monastery. For something a little different, every Sunday, guests can join the monks of the Monastery of St Benedict for Catholic Mass, then visit the 'Hippie Fair' where there are plenty of arts and crafts to purchase as souvenirs of your time in Brazil. For a colourful evening full of fun, the Plataforma Show presents a fantastic opportunity to listen to samba music and watch the samba dance performed.
