Reportedly divided up in 1648 after a drinking competition with the French, you’ll arrive on the Dutch side of this unique French/Dutch Caribbean island. It’s easy to combine downtime on the beach with entertainment in Philipsburg - the city’s lively boardwalk stretches along the southern edge of Great Bay and is the place to go for seaside drinks and waterfront dining, while just steps away, there’s duty-free shops and jewellery stores aplenty on Front Street.

Weave your way through some of the best sailing waters in the world before arriving at what was once called "The Fat Virgin" by Columbus due to the island’s shape.
