Alongside his research team, Diego has recently discovered fossils of over 20 new species of dinosaurs, crocs, and other vertebrates, including the largest known dinosaur so far. Stay in the heart of the sophisticated Recoleta neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, exploring the wealth of nearby boutiques, galleries, museums and cafés. Before an authentic Argentinian welcome dinner, prepare to be wowed by a tango performance. The next day, join a guided city tour, on which highlights include the Recoleta Cemetery, La Casa Rosada and the cathedral in Plaza de Mayo. After lunch, explore the cobbles of San Telmo and the La Boca artists’ quarter.
Fly to Ushuaia and transfer to the Tierra del Fuego National Park to board your expedition ship.
Spend four nights aboard your expedition ship as you explore some of the planet’s most remote and beautiful landscapes, discovering the rich wildlife, human history and rugged beauty of Patagonia. If weather permits, head to Cape Horn, the southernmost tip of South America, by Zodiac Boat, before exploring Wulaia Bay, where Charles Darwin landed during his famous voyage aboard the H.M.S. Beagle. Other highlights include hikes in the Magellanic forest, wildlife viewing in the Magdalena Channel and the awe-inspiring Aguila Glacier. Take a walk on Magdalena Island, home to over 100,000 penguins, before returning to Puntas Arenas.

Your next four nights are spent at the unique Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa, located on the banks of Lake Sarmiento. Ensuring your time here is the very best for you, the itinerary can be tailored to include a range of options. Immersive activities include hiking through the beech forests beside Laguna Azul, discovering the blue sculpted ice of Lago de Gray and admiring ancient Avirgunak rock paintings left by the indigenous Aonikenk people. Fascinating lectures are held most evenings, while your final night will be spent gaining a greater insight into Patagonia’s cowboy culture, as you gather with local gauchos over a locally sourced barbecue dinner.
Fly to Santiago and transfer to The Singular Santiago.
Spend a day exploring the vibrant, culturerich city of Santiago. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the historic centre, marvelling at the Plaza de Armas, the Palacio de la Moneda and the 18th century Metropolitan Cathedral, as well as the impressive masterpieces at the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art. A country renowned for its award-winning wine, your tour is rounded off with a farewell celebration at a local winery. Bid goodbye to your fellow travellers over some exquisite Chilean labels and spend a final solo night in Santiago before returning home.
