Experience the best of Riyadh on this full-day tour. Stops include the Al Masmak Fortress, the bustling Al-Dira Souq, King Abdulaziz Historical Center & National Museum, Mubrarra Palace, Kingdom Centre and Ad Dariyah Old Town.
The ‘Edge of the World’ (Jebel Fihrayn) is an unexpected and dramatic geological wonder in the rocky desert northwest of Riyadh. The site earned its nickname because, from atop the escarpment, you have an uninterrupted view of the horizon. The trip to the Edge of the World from Riyadh takes about 90 minutes by car. Hikers can choose from a range of routes to get to the top, but with rugged terrain, steep climbs and sharp rocks, good walking shoes are a must.
On this informative and immersive tour of AlUla, drive to Abo Aood to see a wide variety of rock inscriptions, before heading onward to Hurat Alouird to see the amazing view of AlUla city from the top of the highest mountain. Visit Abu Raeid Museum (home to intriguing archaeological items and cultural artefacts from across centuries), before a traditional local lunch of delicious Arabic dishes. Discover the desert by comfortable 4x4 safari and relax at a desert campsite as the sun sets, before finishing the day with stargazing at Jabal Al Raqssat.
With evidence of human evidence dating back to the 1st millennium BC, Hegra was Saudi’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to over 110 remarkably well-preserved tombs. Journey back in time to marvel at these incredible tombs, join a rock art trail or cycle between the landmarks – which include the Hijaz Railway station. Then, visit Dadan, an ancient, stone-carved city in which more ancient tombs are carved into the red rock face, whilst nearby Jabal Ikmah is known as an ‘open library’, home to thousands of inscriptions that date back as far as the 1st millennium BC! Afterwards, visit the heritage heart of the region, AlUla Old Town, built back in the 12th century, before marvelling at the monumental Elephant Rock – named due to its likeness to an elephant!
The best time to visit Saudi is between November and February, when the temperatures are coolest and ideal for exploring.
