The &Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge lies deep within the mahogany forest of Lake Manyara National Park, in which you can go in search of the famed tree-climbing lions, over 400 species of bird and much, much more. Located in a secluded part of the park, boasting the dramatic backdrop of the Great Rift Valley, it is not uncommon to spot curious animals wandering into the lodge grounds.

Ten treehouse suites are authentic yet luxurious, while meals are served on the shaded decks of the lodge and, at night, in the lantern-lit boma. Between game drives, make the most of a welcoming swimming pool and a charming sala in the forest offering indulgent massages; listen to the sounds of nature as you are being pampered. As well as the unforgettable safaris on offer, other activities include cycle rides, tree canopy walks and night drives.

Safari

Morning, afternoon and night time game drives from the lodge take you deep into enchanting Lake Manyara National Park, which is famous for its tree-climbing lions. More than 400 bird species can be found in the area, while the minerals in the soda lake attract flocks of pink flamingos. Herds of elephant, giraffe, olive baboon and buffalo are also regularly sighted. Aside from the glorious game-viewing, the area has some of the most dramatic scenery in Tanzania, with the Great Rift Valley escarpment descending 550 metres to the central lake.

Luxury Family Holidays

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge accepts children over the age of six on game drives, although we would recommend that families take their own private vehicle for flexibility on timings. Designed with families in mind, the Family Suite houses two ensuite bedrooms joined by an entrance hall. What's more, &Beyond operate the WILDChild programme which immerses children into the world of nature. Activities include butterfly walks, cycle rides and learning how to make a fire the Maasai way – an important skill when there are marshmallows to be roasted!

Wildlife Encounters

Enjoy a breathtaking bird’s eye view of the forest on the Lake Manyara Tree Top Canopy Walk. A boardwalk gradually climbs amongst the branches of the trees, with suspension bridges taking you up to 18 metres above the forest floor. Your expert guide will explain the flora and fauna as you head deeper into the forest, while blue monkeys, birds and butterflies (and more!) may accompany you on your explorations.

Culture & History

At the entrance to Lake Manyara National Park lies the bustling town of Mto Wa Mbu, a great place in which to interact with local farmers and artisans. Listen to the glorious blend of languages – some 120 tribes call this area home - before stopping for a refreshment of local banana beer.

What could be more romantic than your own private treehouse hidden deep in the lush Tanzanian forest? Four-poster beds and a free-standing bath tub add to the intimate atmosphere of the lodge, while private safari vehicles can be arranged if you want a little alone time and complete flexibility with your safari timings.
