Culture & History
The area’s main attraction, striking Sigiriya Rock, is visible from the property and can be reached in around fifteen minutes by road. It was built in the 5th century AD by King Kasyapa as a great fortress, to protect himself from the rightful heir, his brother, who had sworn revenge and returned from India to fight an epic battle. The nearby ancient cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa also boast fascinating hidden monasteries, cave temples and sacred rocks. From Water Garden Sigiriya, guided tours ensure that you get the very most from your time visiting these cultural treasures.
Spa Breaks
An oasis of wellness and calm, the Ariyanna spa offers an extensive menu of treatments using organic, high quality ingredients – ranging from Balinese massages and Ayurveda therapies, to anti-fatigue facials and turmeric scrubs. There is also a fitness centre.
