Safari
Sri Lanka is amongst the most biodiverse countries in the world. The remote and wild Wilpattu National Park is the largest in the country, home to a population of elusive leopards. Head out with a ranger to try to spot these stunning cats, as well as a range of other species - including sloth bears, loris, elephants, deer, water buffalos, langurs and mongoose. You can explore by classic game drive, as well as on guided bush walks. Specialist photography guides also lead photographic safaris, ensuring that you achieve the best position for the ultimate wildlife shot. For passionate bird fans, specialist birding tours can also be arranged, with species to spot including Sri Lankan grey hornbill, oriental dwarf kingfisher and great thick-knee.
Hotel Experiences
As well as discovering the area's wonderful wildlife, a range of experiences invite you to get the most of your time in Sri Lanka. Dine alfresco beneath the stars, learn to cook like a local, master making the perfect campfire, or indulge in an eight-course Sri Lankan tasting menu beside the crackling campfire. You can also ride on a traditional 'oruwa' raft across a lake that is rich with birdlife.
Luxury Family Holidays
For wildlife encounters and education aplenty on your luxury family holiday, why not choose Leopard Trails? The wonderful Junior Ranger programme gets younger guests involved in learning more about their surroundings, with activities including identifying trees, birds and wildlife, tracking, bush walks, walkie talkie etiquette, a completion of a game drive checklist, and more!
