Hop into the luxury open game vehicles, offering panoramic views at sunrise and sunset, when the animals are most active. Expert rangers provide deep insights into Shamwari, whilst you spot the ‘Big Five’ in their stunning natural landscapes. Tailored to particular areas of interest, each game drive experience is unique and caters for the whole family. For adults, guided game walks are an incredible opportunity to get close to the flora and fauna of the reserve's eco-systems, track animals and experience once-in-a-lifetime natural encounters.

Wildlife Encounters

Passionate about wildlife conservation, Shamwari’s awareness centres are fantastic to visit in between game drives. Providing an engaging learning experience to guests of all ages, take a trip to the Born Free Big Cat Sanctuary, which raises awareness of how wildlife is exploited in captivity. Rescuing big cats, the charity provides sanctuaries within the reserves and a unique opportunity to get close to these beautiful animals. Meanwhile, the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre cares for sick, orphaned and abandoned animals before releasing them into their natural habitats. Visit these facilities to learn directly from the dedicated veterinary team and meet animals that are currently in the centre’s care.

Luxury Family Holidays

Children are welcome at this family friendly lodge, ideal for those of all ages who want the wilderness experience, with a touch of luxury. The swimming pool is designed for children, with a shallow area for the young guests to play in. The ‘Kids on Safari’ adventure centre is based at Riverdene, offering a wide array of activities close to Sarili Lodge, including ziplining, climbing walls and treetop adventures. Please note the lodge closure dates: 29 April - 15 Sept 2024. Shamwari Sarili is closing for 4 months to undergo a refurbishment and will be re-launched in September with 6 river facing rooms, a private spa treatment room and fitness centre.
