Located in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, and conveniently located for Hoedspruit Airport, Makanyi Private Game Lodge is a stylish boutique lodge with just seven luxury suites. Privileged guests can stay in one of five, generously-sized Luxury Suites, or one of two Luxury Pool Suites, all with bush views down to the watering hole. Families, or two couples, are spoilt with the new two-bedroom villa which boasts its own private deck with large pool, private boma, vehicle and guide.The dedicated team of staff ensure that all guests receive a superb level of privacy, and it is an ideal place to enjoy a romantic break, superb dining and memorable wildlife encounters. With guests easily able to connect from Hoedspruit to Johannesburg, it makes a perfect safari and bush honeymoon, or a key Big Five game adventure as part of a wider African journey. For those with a little more time, the lodge can also arrange excursions to local places of interest, such as the scenic Blyde River Canyon, captivating Maholoholo Cheetah Research Centre, or splendid viewpoint of 'Gods Window'.

Typical days can be spent enjoying the twice-daily game drives, relaxing by the pool, dining within the stunning outdoor Boma, under starry skies, or relaxing within the inviting lounge areas. Guests can also visit the well-equipped gym, be pampered with an authentic Africology spa treatment, or embark on a specialist Photography or Art safari course. Having teamed up with local wildlife artist Warren Cary, the lodge holds four-day workshops which include special art tuition classes around the game drives. Similarly, keen photographers can take part in a private photographic safari course, utilising a specially adapted safari vehicle, including professional tuition, technical support and equipment hire with Hilton Kotze.
