With canvas walls and thatched roofs, each of the twelve superior tents offer true luxury while remaining authentic to the safari style. Ideal for couples seeking privacy and relaxation, each spacious tent is uniquely styled with African inspired décor, stone fireplaces and king-size beds. Stepping out onto private decks, every tent has a private plunge pool and outdoor shower, with large baths in the en suites. Amenities include Wi-Fi, air conditioning, mini bars and electric blankets for chillier evenings.
Serving three meals every day, Bayethe offers a choice of dining indoors or outside. The indoor dining area is a cosy and relaxed setting by a large stone fireplace, whilst outdoors, tables are set out on a lawn overlooking the bush, centred around a large fire pit. Enjoy the traditional South African barbecue on ‘Braai’ night in an authentic safari experience under the stars. Whilst out on an evening game drive, take part in a traditional sundowner, enjoying your favourite drink and watching the sun set over the plains.
Safari
As a private reserve, the game drives from Bayethe enjoy exclusive access to Shamwari's 25,000 hectares, creating the most incredible safari. Taking place in the morning and evening, when the animals are most active, expert rangers will take you out in luxury open game vehicles, providing panoramic views of the ‘Big Five’ and breathtaking landscapes. Tailored to personal interests, each drive is a unique opportunity for gaining new insights into the phenomenal region and wildlife. Additionally, guided game walks provide an exciting alternative view of Shamwari Reserve, following animal tracks and learning from the passionate expert rangers and guides.
Wildlife Encounters
In between exciting game drives, centres based in the reserve offer the opportunity to learn about the vital conservation work of game reserves and get close to the incredible wildlife. Visit the Born Free Big Cat Sanctuary, which raises awareness of the exploitation wild animals face in captivity, rescuing big cats and providing them with sanctuary. A visit to the facilities of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, which cares for sick and abandoned animals before releasing them into their natural habitats, offers an important learning opportunity. Specialising recently in raising rhinos orphaned by poaching, guests can potentially meet the animals in the centre's care along with the dedicated veterinary team.
