Wildlife Encounters
The vast majority of visitors to Volcanoes National Park go for the once-in-a-lifetime trekking to spot the endangered mountain gorillas. Setting off early in the morning for the 7am briefing at Volcanoes National Park's headquarters, just ten minutes from Singita Kwitonda Lodge, you will be matched with a guide before starting your hike into the dense cloud forest to spot these magnificent animals. There is also the chance to spot glorious golden monkeys on a dedicated hike, again joined by an expert guide and tracker. Back at the lodge, the Conservation Room is an interactive educational space managed by Singita's specialist conservationists, providing a unique perspective on endangered mountain gorillas and their habitats. The lodge also houses a Gear Room, from which you can borrow a range of trekking equipment.
Hotel Experiences
As well as gorilla and golden monkey trekking, there are many more marvellous activities on offer here. From the comfort of the lodge, you can enjoy wine tasting, yoga, cooking lessons, tree-planting, kitchen garden tours and experiences with local artisans. Additionally, head out into the dreamy Volcanoes National Park, perhaps enjoying a trek to the gravesite of Dian Fossey, a hike to the Crater lake of Mount Bisoke, a trip exploring the Musanze Caves, or a visit to the small village of Gasura to learn more about local culture and lifestyle. Additional charges may apply.
Luxury Family Holidays
Guest of all ages are warmly welcomed here and there are various educational and eye-opening activities available to little ones. These include cooking workshops, swimming, birding, cycling, golden monkey treks, tours of the garden, locally inspired arts and crafts, stargazing and more! Please note that the minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15 years, though childminding can be arranged for guests younger than this, while parents head out into the jungle.
Spa Breaks
Each suite features its very own in-room massage area - the perfect place to unwind with a treatment after a day discovering the delights of the jungle. The spa menu is varied, offering massages, facials and rituals, many of which are inspired by the locality.
