Luxury Holidays At Amanjena

Amanjena is the first Aman resort in Africa. The property's design emulates old Moorish pisé (earthen) buildings and Berber villages that cling to the High Atlas Mountains, with its distinctive rose-blush walls mirroring those of the nearby ‘Red City’, Marrakech. Step through the handcrafted double oak doors into an oasis bedecked with palms and vines, colonnaded walkways, marble fountains and glittering glazed tiles. Fanning out from the central water pool are beautiful, Moroccan-style Pavilions (many with private pool and garden), traditional two-storey ‘townhouse’ Maisons and the spectacular Al-Hamra Maison, all enjoying the most glorious mountain views.

Ouarzazate green marble finishes the bathroom with its stepped and columned bathtub, twin vanities, soaring mirrors, twin dressing areas and separate shower and toilet. Berber carpets are scattered about the zellij -tiled floors.

The self-contained guest bedroom, with its queen-size bed, bathroom with separate shower and toilet, dressing area and separate courtyard entrance, is also located on this floor. Culture & History

Welcome to Marrakech, where senses come alive with dazzling sights and uplifting aromas. Join a guided tour of the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and wander its age-old streets, crowded souks, tanneries, mosques and museums. Don't miss the mind-boggling experience of standing in Place Jemaa el Fna, watching snake charmers, fortune tellers and other local characters. Another must-do is drinking mint tea with Berbers in a mud-walled mountain village or hit the coast and explore the spice-scented lanes of Essaouira's UNESCO-listed medina, an enchanting old port.

The Red City is encircled by top-class greens, themselves framed by the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains - an impressive setting that attracts golfers eager to hone their game on signature courses filled with challenges. Right next to Amanjena are the championship fairways of Amelkis Golf Club, deemed one of the country's finest, the 27-hole Royal and 18-hole Al Maaden clubs are also close by, so guests have access to not one, but three fantastic courses. Do talk to our Travel Consultants about special golfing packages.

Considering Amanjena is a heartbeat away from busy Marrakech, it pulls off being a chic and secluded oasis of arches, pools, fountains and courtyards trimmed with date palms. In fact, the kind of luxury hotel that radiates romance, whether you're planning a last-minute getaway or an upscale honeymoon. Tick off the city's sights, then slip off to the Atlas Mountains for a picnic lunch amongst jaw-dropping scenery or wander the olive groves of Amanjena until you reach the Caidal Tent - a magical setting for lovingly crafted dinners, with glowing lanterns all around.

Hotel Experiences

Should you want to follow breakfast at the beach with lunch in the mountains and picnics in the desert, Amanjena's helicopter departs straight from the hotel's heliport.

The hammam, or steam bath, is central to Moroccan life. Unsurprisingly, it has pride of place at the heart of the Amanjena Health and Beauty Centre. Each hammam (one each for men and women) is complemented by showers, washrooms, a change area and a whirlpool. Treatments at the Beauty Centre include massages, manicures, pedicures and facials.
