Segera Retreat can be reached by a 35-minute flight from Nairobi Wilson Airport by light aircraft to Nanyuki Airport, followed by a two-hour road transfer to the lodge. Private charters directly into Segera can be arranged on request. NB: Visas are required for Kenya.
There are six stylish villas with private decks overlooking the open plains and Mount Kenya, while each offers a bespoke safari design, high-quality fittings, an outdoor bath, al fresco deck and personal villa attendant to cater to your every need. The signature villa, Segera House, has three indoor lounge areas opening onto the outdoor living space, which includes a plunge pool and private garden. Upstairs, there are two en suite bedrooms, each with their own private deck. Wonderfully secluded, Villa Segera is perfect for couples seeking privacy. Connected by a swing bridge, there is a large bedroom and private dining area, as well as two antique-filled lounges. A salt water swimming pool completes the luxurious surroundings.
Hotel Experiences
One of the unique features of Segera Retreat is its sculpture garden and possession of Africa's largest private collection of artwork. An offspring of the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in Cape Town, guests can experience the culture of Africa and its diaspora through the artwork on display, while there is also an artist-in-residence programme. More unforgettable experiences include visiting traditional local communities and flying over the conservation area by bi-plane, inspired by the Oscar-winning movie, 'Out of Africa'.
Safari
Located at the heart of Kenya's striking Laikipia County, a safari from Segera offer guests the chance to see a range of spectacular wildlife - including elephants, big cats, giraffe, Grevy’s zebra and African wild dog. Laikipia is an important conservation area for the protection of wildlife. Working with local farmers, cattle grazing is managed to avoid conflict with the movement of wild animals and thus protecting some of its endangered species.
Luxury Family Holidays
Offering an unforgettable safari experience for the entire brood, the malaria-free Segera Retreat warmly welcomes families, featuring a family villa with a double and twin bedroom, each with an en suite bathroom. The expert chefs are completely flexible in timings and menus for the younger members of the family, while experienced babysitters are on hand if parents want some alone time.
Romance
Villa Segera offers complete privacy for couples, but if you'd prefer something even more romantic, why not spend a night sleeping under the stars in the NAY PALAD Bird’s Nest? This high turret offers a bird’s eye view of the striking surrounding landscape. After watching the magical African sunset, dinner is served before you retire to the comfort of your bed.
Spa Breaks
Shake off the dust from your safari with a visit to the beautiful Segera Spa, in which you can enjoy some well-deserved pampering and relaxation. As well as carefully-developed scrubs, facials and massages, a visit to the Rasul Steam Tower is heartily recommended. A state-of-the-art gym with Technogym equipment and a salt-water swimming pool complete the fabulous wellness facilities here.
