Val Thorens is one of the world's most renowned high altitude ski resorts, its celebrated location offering maximum snow coverage for most of the European ski season. Overlooked by six glaciers, amid stunning panoramic vistas, this is the highest point in Le Trois Vallées. Despite this considerable altitude, there are runs for all ages and abilities within the vast range of itineraries on offer. In addition to conventional skiing and snowboarding, with private lessons available for both, other snow activities include snowshoeing, tobogganing, snowmobiling and off-piste ski expeditions.
Dining & Gourmet
The Fitz Roy also has the fine reputation of being one of the best places to dine in Val Thorens. The Fitz Roy Restaurant welcomes guests and visitors to the hotel in its elegant dining room, where Alpine ambience is perfectly captured in the wood-panelled setting, while expertly crafted French cuisine is served with a modern twist, paired with carefully selected wines from the hotel's own cellar. Guests will also be treated to a hearty breakfast buffet in the morning to set them up for a day filled with skiing and mountain activities, while a casual lunch can be enjoyed on the south-facing terrace, where a refined menu of fresh seafood, flavoursome casseroles and delectable desserts can be savoured with a view over the slopes.
Spa & Wellness
The impressive Spa du Fitz Roy has a unique ambience, characterised by its high altitude setting. Facilities include a swimming pool carved into the mountainside, a wooden sauna and mosaic-walled Turkish bath, all designed in pure chalet tradition, allowing guests to succumb to complete relaxation. An extensive treatment menu includes anti-ageing therapies, reflexology, facials, osteopathy, traditional massages, body wraps and even children's massages. Full spa packages can be booked, while manicures, pedicures and toning treatments ensure guests look their best for the evenings.
The concierge team at Elegant Resorts would be delighted to assist with arrangements for your next luxury ski holiday, including pre-booking equipment and kindergarten places. Lift passes for certain resorts can be booked by us prior to travel, but can also be purchased upon arrival. We strongly recommend securing ski or snowboard tuition (if required) before you travel, whether individual or group lessons are needed. To make the most of the ski school experience, it is essential that pupils are of the same ability-level – otherwise, separate instructors will be required. Please let your Travel Consultant know you wish to have lessons when you make your holiday booking, as they would be pleased to advise you.
