Culture & History
The Zuletan community is proud to actively preserve its culture and traditions. Learn more about them with a visit to the community restaurant or the traditional home of one of the local families. In addition, the embroidery workshop offers demonstrations by Zuletan women who produce decorative items, including tablecloths and curtains, to buy.
Known locally as 'the pyramids', the grounds of the hacienda are home to one of the best preserved archaeological sites of the ancient Caranqui culture. It comprises over one-hundred small mounds of earth and five large, but short, pyramid structures.
Wildlife Encounters
The valleys of the Andes are an excellent place to observe wildlife, particularly the birdlife. Thanks to the Condor Huasi Project, unique habitats have been preserved and species including the endangered Andean Condor flourish. A typical day may include watching humming birds and visiting the Andean Condor rehabilitation area where Guides are available to take you on walking or cycling tours.
Adventure
Explore endless miles of winding roads through flourishing pastureland, eucalyptus forest and pine trees that make up the Valley of Zuleta on any of the Hacienda Zuleta adventure activities. Take the reigns as you horse-ride with one of the most exclusive stables and some of the best riding in Ecuador. Gasp at the extraordinary Andean scenery on your beautiful Zuleteno horse, as you ride through valleys surrounded by mountains, beautiful green-coloured lakes and vistas of the incredible snow-capped Cayambe, ancient pre-Incan earth mounds and majestic waterfalls. Tie up your boots and trek on beautiful trails with options for different fitness levels or mountain bike on thrilling trails throughout the valley.
Hotel Experiences
As a working farm, there are many unique activities to experience. Visit the dairy and watch the cows being milked, before taking a walk around the Ecuadorian cheese factory. There are also organic gardens where a wide variety of vegetables and fruits are grown for use in the dishes cooked at the hacienda. You can pick up lots of organic gardening tips whilst you're there. If you like the sound of discovering the estate in relative comfort, take a horse-drawn carriage ride and see some of the many places of interest.
Luxury Family Holidays
The hotel welcomes children and can arrange activities for children aged 6 to 12 years old, in advance, on request. Those under 6 years old must be accompanied by an adult. A babysitting service, operated by the hotel, is also available.
