Pacuare Lodge is made for adventure. Set in the middle of tropical wilderness, there are no roads to the lodge, so your arrival will kick off the excitement as you make your entrance via the river aboard a white-water raft. Alternatively, you can land in a helicopter, or you can take a four-wheel drive journey through the mountains. While here, you will be immersed in the riches of the rainforest where you can enjoy complimentary hikes, rafting and sustainability tours, plus a fantastic array of additional activities; spend an adrenaline-filled day of rafting the rapids and waterfalls, stopping for a picnic, or discover ancient trails in the Nairi Awari Indigenous Reserve among much more!
There is a magnificent array of birdlife at Pacuare Lodge, with tropical species including the agami heron, sunbittern, red-throated ant tanager, black-cheeked woodpecker and several kinds of toucan. Other inhabitants of the surrounding rainforest include jaguars and ocelots, along with sloths and howler monkeys, which have been reintroduced to the area thanks to a project sponsored by the lodge. It is in order to minimise disturbance to the wildlife that lives here that the lodge is best accessed by white water raft, and the lodge is one of very few hotels in Costa Rica to have gained the country's highest elite certification of sustainability.
Costa Rica offers a wonderful experience for couples and is a fantastic honeymoon destination for adventurous types. At Pacuare Lodge, couples can hide away in their peaceful tree-top lodge with a romantic canopy bed illuminated by candle light. Undistracted by digital interruptions, unwind in your hammock or private pool as you watch the birds flutter by from your aerial perch. At the spa, you can enjoy a Romance Rose Ritual for two, which takes mineral-rich mud for a body massage and facial mask with rose essences to uplift and relax. For dinner, you can also arrange a romantic dinner along the Pacuare River, lit with ambient candles and a crackling fire pit, as you savour the exquisite food under the stars.
Spa & Wellness
The Jawa Juü spa, which means ‘house of the Shaman' in the local Cabécar Indian language, offers luxurious pampering inspired by the heritage of the people who have lived among the rainforest for three-thousand years. Based on a philosophy with a passion for wellness, the highly trained therapists utilise products rich in natural essences to offer a wonderful range of treatments while cocooned in the beautiful rainforest environment. Perfect to indulge in after a day of adventure, unwind with the Blissful Coconut and Honey Ritual as Tibetan chimes help you relax or make the most of Costa Rica’s famous coffee with an Invigorating Coffee Exfoliation. With an extensive menu of massages, facials and body treatments to chose from, you will discover an oasis of indulgence.
Children are welcome to stay at Pacuare Lodge, however it is recommended for families with teenage children. Many activities have age restrictions, so it is advised that all members of the party are at least twelve years of age to fully enjoy the experience.
