Culture & History
Guests can experience the history, heritage and culture of Easter Island (Rapa Nui) by participating in one of the lodge's many guided excursions. Due to the island's geographical beauty and rich culture, Rapa Nui was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. Get acquainted with the ancient Maoi statues - an amazing feat of ingenuity, these ancestral figures are over five-hundred years old and unique to the South Pacific, making for an almost spiritual experience.
Explora Rapa Nui offers more than twenty explorations catering for all abilities, with dedicated expert bilingual local guides to teach you about the cultural and archaeological gems of this extraordinary island. For instance, scale steep cliffs on the 'Ara O Te Tanata Manu' hike until you reach the edge of the breathtaking Kau crater, where incredible panoramic views await; gaze out over the Pacific Ocean and spectacular interior of the volcano, before walking around the rim of the crater to an ancient ceremonial village. Fancy a swim? Snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of Rapu Nui, as you discover the island's marine wildlife, such as molluscs, crustaceans, coral and tropical fish.
After a long day of exploration, there is simply nothing better to do than unwind and relax those tired muscles in the swimming pool, Jacuzzi and massage area. The views of Easter Island from the pool are simply outstanding.
