Luxury Family Holidays
Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero is perfect for a family safari and children of all ages are welcome, while the perimeter of the lodge is fenced for added peace of mind. The suites are spacious and some have a second bedroom. Family-friendly activities include treasure hunts and guided walks, on which children can learn about the local flora and fauna as they collect leaves and seeds. They can even make their own pizzas with the chef! Timings for meals and the duration of game drives can be adapted to suit each family’s needs. Please note that children under five years old will only be permitted on game drives in a private vehicle.
Safari
Daily game drives are led by professional guides in open-sided, four-wheel drive vehicles along the banks of the Chobe River. Chobe is famous for its large concentration of elephants, and you can watch their antics as they splash in the river. Look out for sitatungas – antelope with splayed feet to help them splash through the water channels - while lion, leopard, puku and red lechwe are some of the other species that may be seen. The park also houses a prolific amount of birds.
Hotel Experiences
Perfect for capturing the abundant wildlife in the early morning light on the Chobe River, Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero has its own safari boat for photographers to use. Taking a maximum of 18 guests, the boat features 360-degree swivel seats and a lower deck featuring the bar area where breakfast or lunch is served. With its wonderful location on the banks of the Chobe River, evening cruises at sunset are also a great way to experience the area, inviting you to watch as herds of elephants and pods of hippos congregate. Sipping a cocktail as the sun sets over the river is the perfect way to end the day.
Spa Breaks
One of the few Botswana safari lodges that flaunts a full spa, Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero offers a range of pampering treatments using Africology and Thalgo products. Inspired by the surrounding natural elements, milk bath rituals and African goddess facials are just some of the therapies available. Facilities include an indoor spa bath, hydrotherapy, Vichy showers and private treatment rooms, one of which is perched in the treetops.
