Culture & History
The Kingdom of Bhutan is an exceptional place and the last great Himalayan Kingdom, cloaked in enchanting mysteries where Buddhist traditions have lasted for centuries. Ascend to the sacred Tiger's Nest Monastery from Amankora Paro, clinging to a 900-metre cliff face where Buddhism is said to have arrived and is one of Bhutan's national treasures. Marvel at the incredible Bhutanese architecture as you set off from Amankora Punakha and hike to Khamsum Chorten, the hilltop temple of Giligang and Punakham Dzong, arguably the most attractive dzong in the country. The second dzong to be built in Bhutan, the temple served as the capital and seat of government until the mid-1950s.
Spa Breaks
In-keeping with Aman's peaceful and natural environment, each of the Amankora spas maintains a low-key indulgence, embracing the simplicities of plants, herbs and Bhutan's natural resources. Infused with cedarwood incense, the spa promotes spiritual healing through meditation and Reiki, whilst the relaxation room and sauna increases tranquillity. Indulge in a couple's hot-stone bath, filled with fresh herbs and hot water and surrounded by the sweet scent of pine forest, for total replenishment. Additionally, there are Himalayan salt scrubs and massages available, while Thimpu's hot oil head massage should not be missed.
