The nearest lift is the Chamonix gondola, from where you can access over three hundred kilometres of exhilarating intermediate skiing. While in Megève, you can buy the Evasion Mont Blanc ski pass which covers Megève, St. Gervais, Combloux Les Contamines and La Giettaz and will in turn provide access to 112 ski lifts and 445 kilometres of ski slopes. Après-ski opportunities are also fruitful; there are over ninety gastronomic restaurants to sample (including eight boasting Michelin stars) and rustic shops selling French cheese, bread and preserves. Alternatively take a horse-drawn sleigh past numerous charming cafés, bars and patisseries and soak up the delightfully local spirit that the French have managed to retain. What's more, the man who invented ski trousers was born in Megève - an item that now swooshes down the town's slopes all season long.
