The small coastal town of Shingu is probably best known for the UNESCO Kumano Hayatama Taisha Shrine, one of three sacred spots on the ancient pilgrimage route of Kumano Kodo. The area also offers exhilarating log-rafting and hiking trails past waterfalls.
While Osaka offers plenty to explore itself, it is also close to cultural Kyoto, where UNESCO World Heritage Sites and teahouses filled with geishas await. Nearby Nara, meanwhile, is a historical city home to temples, shrines and one of Japan’s oldest parks abundant with deer.
All-inclusive
Here, impressive Himeji Castle boasts UNESCO status, while the nearby Koken Gardens and Shoshazan Engyoji Temple are other delights to explore.
Tamano is an innovative town known for its contemporary art, lovely beaches and sprawling Miyama Park, while the nearby Ojigadake Bluff offers some seriously scenic hiking routes with sea views.
As you cruise to Uwajima, embrace the ship’s facilities – from Michelin-inspired dining, to the state-of-the-art Crystal Life Spa.
Uwajima is one of Japan’s main pearl producing communities and you can visit a local pearl farm to see the perfected process from start to finish. The historic town is also home to one of only twelve surviving castles from the Edo Period.
Renowned for its friendliness and high-quality agricultural ingredients, tropical Kagoshima is overlooked by the active volcano Mount Sakurajima. Hiking, culinary delights and historical treasures all feature on a range of excursions here.
This enchanting UNESCO-listed island offers scenic hiking trails, hot springs and captivatingly complex ecosystems, home to nearly 2,000 species of wildlife!
Kayaking, snorkelling and hiking best showcase the natural beauty of Amami, home to white sand beaches, vibrant coral reefs and wildlife-rich mangroves.
Discover the island’s Folk Village, where ancient traditions of craft and creation are preserved, while spellbindingly blue waters and pristine beaches are also here to welcome you.
Here, more breathtaking beaches and excellent waters for swimming are joined by Motobu’s famed Churaumi Aquarium, one of the largest in the world.
Bustling and vibrant, Naha’s waters are some of the clearest you’ll encounter, home to a kingdom of colourful marine life – including sea turtles – while the area is also great for spotting migrating humpback whales at the right time of year.
The azure waters of these friendly islands – collectively declared a national park – are popular with sea turtles and humpbacks, while the white sand beaches are perfect for a spot of relaxation.
The snorkelling here is sensational and the beaches beautiful, though inland also offers bright botanical gardens and vast sugarcane fields to explore.

Dense palm forests, mountains covered in lush jungles, mangrove-fringed rivers and Shinto shrines on the tropical island’s interior lead out towards gorgeous beaches and diverse dive sites at the coast.
Your Crystal adventure ends in Taipei, one of Asia’s friendliest and fastest-growing cities where highlights include the National Palace Museum, Longshan Temple and Taipei 101 tower. Why not explore on a Crystal excursion with options including a dumpling workshop and tea demonstration?
