Although the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area and Serengeti National Park offer fantastic game viewing all year round, perhaps the best time to visit is between June and November. This is the dry season and the period during which, in the Serengeti, the great migration herds have reached the northern-most point in their cycle, crossing rivers and moving northward. Similarly, Zanzibar is best visited between June and November, promising an Indian Ocean paradise with clear skies and gentle waves.

Fly from London to Kilimanjaro via Amsterdam

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by your driver-guide and driven approximately one hour to Arusha. You will spend the night in the spacious cottages of Legendary Lodge.

Pre-safari stay at Legendary Lodge, Arusha

The luxurious Legendary Lodge is located just a short drive from Arusha Domestic Airport, making it the ideal place to spend the night before your Tanzanian safari. Surrounded by manicured gardens and adjacent to a working coffee farm, the lodge features twelve spacious Garden Cottages that combine colonial and African styles. From your private veranda, you can watch the early morning mist rise up over striking Mount Meru. As well as a spa, fitness enthusiasts will love the nearby recreation centre, complete with a gym, sauna, swimming pool, tennis and squash court. When you've worked up an appetite, homecooked meals are served in the old farmhouse.

Fly from Arusha Airport to the Lake Manyara Airstrip

Wake up to freshly ground coffee from the estate, before heading the short distance to Arusha Airport, where you will take a short flight by light aircraft to Lake Manyara Airstrip. From here, you will be driven to The Highlands, arriving in time for lunch.
