Embark your Scenic River Cruise in Bordeaux

Docked in Bordeaux, board your Scenic ‘Space-Ship’, aptly named for the generous sizing of the stylishly designed suites that make them the most spacious river cruise cabins in Europe. Spend your first evening settling in, perhaps enjoying your private balcony in privacy or meeting fellow guests at the evening welcome reception.

Sail to Libourne

After a peaceful night’s sleep, awaken to spend the morning relaxing on board as you cruise into the beautiful 13th Century port of Libourne – you could, perhaps, enjoy a French cooking class at Scenic Culinaire or simply sit back and enjoy the scenery over a complimentary beverage.

Upon arrival at your first stop, you will head to the nearby town of Saint-Émilion, where you will spend the afternoon exploring the underground catacombs of the Monolithic Church – an awe-inspiring building carved out of a single block of limestone. With a two-thousand-year history of wine, you will spend the evening sipping on an exquisite glass at the exclusive estate of Château Siaurac while the vines glow red and gold as the sunsets. While you are here, explore the stunning scenery or learn about the artistic heritage of the region as you watch a local artist paint work with paint made from wine grown on the estate.

Enjoy a guided tour of Libourne where you can explore 16th century town houses and an impressive Gothic church. Foodies may prefer to visit the exclusive estate of Château Franc Mayne and taste its Grand Cru Class wine, or view the eclectic city of Bergerac and enjoy foie gras tasting at a charming local farm.

Spend the afternoon at leisure as you continue to cruise onwards and relax on board the comfortable ship.

Sail to Médoc

Continue on your journey as you traverse the scenic Médoc wine route, famed for being one of the world’s leading red wine producers – sample some of the finest at Château Gruaud-Larose estate, or cycle to Château Lagrange for a tasting. That day, you will also have the exclusive opportunity to visit the 13th century Château Agassac, one of the oldest winemaking estates in the region. Be treated to an ambient evening concert with live classical music performances in this magnificent location for a truly memorable evening.

Sail to Cadillac

Spend a peaceful day cruising the scenic landscapes of one of the most picturesque stretches of the Garonne River as you head toward Cadillac. During the day, his is the perfect time to develop your French cooking skills with a lesson in Scenic Culinaire, while that night, you will be entertained with fabulous local performers in the Panorama Lounge.

The next day, you will venture into the Sauternes region for a tasting of the prestigious Château Guiraud dessert wines, or, for an active pursuit, cycle through the scenic vineyards to Château Myrat for a tasting. Of course, if you would rather carry on your quest to become a culinary master, you may choose to stay on board and join a master class in French cuisine. Or, if you have had your fill of food and wine, visit Roquetaillade Castle, one of the most impressive historic sites of the region, where you can tour the estate with the family who still lives there. Alternatively, explore the medieval village of Saint Macaire or take a twelve-kilometre hike to the neighbouring village of Loupiac.

Sail to Bordeaux

The final stop of your cruise is the beautiful city of Bordeaux. As the largest urban World Heritage site, the city is equal parts charming heritage, food and wine haven and contemporary buzz. Spend the afternoon at leisure, immersing yourself in the irresistible culture, or take up a choice of activities on offer. If you want a final taste of the regions cuisine, join a chef at the local food market before cooking up one last culinary masterpiece. For an active option, you can also cycle the historic regions, crossing charming bridges, admiring the sites of the Royal Gate and the Palais Rohan and returning through the pretty public gardens.
