Morocco can be visited all year round and it's hot and sunny the majority of the time. To experience the milder weather and fewer tourists, the best time to go is April to early June and September through to November. During the summer months (July to September) the weather can become quite hot, especially in the cities, however the trip can still be enjoyable.

Fes - 2 nights

Arrive in the city of Rabat and transfer through the naturally beautiful Moroccan countryside to Fes. In Fes you will check-in to your hotel and have the opportunity to relax post-flight and meet the expert Photographer and travel team who will ensure you get the most out of the week ahead. The next day, after breakfast, you will make your way to the tanneries Chouwara; one of the most striking sights in the Medina. With the warm morning sun rising upon the huge array of colourful dyes in honeycomb vats, this is a perfect place to start to develop your photography skills. You will then make your way through the Medina streets, a maze of vibrant alleys and stalls, where you can buy a whole range of local leathers, pottery and foods. Your local Guide will ensure that the group experiences all the highlights of the Medina. After experiencing an authentic Moroccan cuisine lunch, you’ll head to the North Fort, one of two forts that were originally built to guard the old city, for a lesson in sunset photography over the city. Dinner is included on the first night, and breakfast, lunch and dinner are included on the second day.

Errachidia - 1 night

Today you’ll make your way from Fes to the ancient Moroccan city of Errachidia, passing through the diverse Moroccan countryside that is a unique mixture of old villages and mosques, agriculture land, moon-like landscapes and barren scrub. This journey between cities will be very flexible in terms of stops made on the way, giving you opportunities to practice your photography skills. There will also be the opportunity to stop off at the limestone crater lakes near the mountain resort of Ifrane that are a haven for wildlife, especially birds such as herons and Reed Warblers. You will also be able to explore areas of the Cedar forests near to the lakes, where you will have a good chance of spotting the native Barbary apes. On arrival in Errachidia, you’ll check-in to a local hotel and relax after the journey. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Merzouga - 1 night

Today you’ll leave Errachidia for Merzouga, a small village close to the Sahara Desert. En route you will stop off at the Gorge du Ziz which is defined by artificial gates at both the northern and southern ends and boasts dramatic scenery carved by the Ziz River. You’ll have lunch in Merzouga before exploring the area, including the dunes of the Sahara Desert. These snake-like dunes stretch across the desert for miles and in the evening there is the opportunity to photograph the star-filled sky. You will spend the night in your bespoke campsite. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Ouarzazate - 1 night

Today you’ll wake up early to watch the sunrise bathe the dunes, before making your way to the town of Ouarzazate, also nicknamed ‘the door of the desert’. En route you’ll stop at the Dades Gorge, another landscape offering beautiful scenery. The local Berber people built many kasbahs surrounding the gorge for defence purposes and these, combined with the beauty of the environment, make for a truly unique experience. You’ll have the option of visiting the Kasbah Amerhidi which has incredible architecture. Once you arrive in Ouarzazate you’ll check-in to a hotel and have time to relax before dinner. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

Marrakech - 2 nights

Today, after breakfast, you’ll head to Marrakech, stopping en route for more photo opportunities. The first stop will be at the fortified mud-brick city of Ait-Benhaddou at the edge of the Atlas Mountains. This UNESCO World Heritage Site displays striking examples of southern Moroccan architecture. You can then visit the ruins of Kasbah of el Glaoui in Telouet which built in the 1900s by the Glaoui family, but was never completed. From here travel through the picturesque Ounila Valley to the Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass that links Ouarzazate to the south-east of Marrakesh through the High Atlas mountains. In the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Marrakech and check-in to your hotel. In the evening, experience Jamaa el Fnaa, a vibrant square and market place in Marrakech's Medina quarter. At night this square holds a cultured mixture of storytellers, acrobats, musicians and entertainers. You can also find a seat at rooftop terraces, such as the Café du Grand Balcon, for an alternative view of the whole square. The next day offers you the chance to explore Marrakech at leisure and put the photographic skills you have learnt over the past week into practise. Marrakech offers a world of vivacious activity from the souks to the distinctive architecture of historical buildings. El Badia Palace, which took twenty-five years to build, offers an insight into the past of Marrakech, while the Saadian Tombs, dating back to the 1600s, were rediscovered and restored in the early 1900s to exhibit its beautiful internal decorations. Or visit the Agdal Gardens that offer a combination of olive, lemon, orange and apricot trees surrounded by tranquil water features, while Majorelle Gardens, restored by Yves Saint Laurent, boasts a whole range of tropical colours. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included on the first day, and breakfast and dinner are included on the second day.
