Arrive at Skálakot, a stylish boutique lodge on a friendly family farm, at the end of your second day. Enjoy a night’s sleep before waking up for the third day of your journey, which will be spend exploring the South Shore.
Known for its breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, you will take a private tour across this exceptional part of the country, stopping to admire waterfalls and glaciers. Seljalandsfoss is one of the most memorable displays, dropping 60-meters with pouring waters from the famous Eyjafjallajokull glacier, while Skogarfoss waterfall is often claimed to be the most beautiful. You will also see the spectacular basalt sea stacks of Reynisdrangar protruding from the crashing waves from the black volcanic beach.
Finally, you will have the opportunity to embark on an ice walk on Solheimajokull glacier, where you will find some of the most amazing views marked by ice and rock formed by the glacier. The easy walk-on crampons are suitable for almost everyone, so most abilities are catered for.
Return to Skálakot for the night before rising the next morning for the fourth day of your journey. Still along the South Shore area, you will take a private Jeep across Thorsmork Valley. This beautifully rugged landscape is only accessible by mountain vehicle, so prepare for a bumpy ride to Gigjokull glacier and Stakkholtsgja, where you will take a light hike. Finally, you will visit Seljalandsfoss and Gljufrabui waterfalls, the former famous for allowing visitors to walk behind it.
