Itinerary Highlights

Raw, rugged and beautiful, Tanzania’s southern national parks are hidden gems and far less commercialised than the parks on Tanzania’s northern circuit. On this luxury seven night safari itinerary, you will experience two of Tanzania’s largest and most enchanting parks, the Selous and Ruaha, exploring by car, foot or boat as you spot a wealth of wonderful wildlife. Throughout your journey, you will be staying in two lovely luxury lodges, both of which have private decks where, between twice daily safaris, you can sit and watch the varied residents of the bush, as well as recording the spectacular number of different bird species you see. After exploring Tanzania’s southern parks, why not consider a few days of relaxation and pampering on the exotic island of Zanzibar?

Fly to Dar es Salaam

Upon arrival at Dar es Salaam airport, take a private car transfer to the Oyster Bay Hotel.

Dar es Salaam - Staying at The Oyster Bay Hotel

After your flight, spend a night in Dar es Salaam, a city on Tanzania's Indian Ocean coast. Laid-back and bustling, high rises lie alongside an interesting blend of African, Arab, Indian and German architecture. Your base here is The Oyster Bay Hotel, a charming home-style property with large gardens and suites facing the ocean. Modern amenities combine with a traditional African style, dark wooden furnishings and contemporary understated decor, while there is also a lovely swimming pool.

Fly to the Selous Game Reserve

Take a private car transfer to Dar es Salaam Airport for your light aircraft flight to Africa’s largest reserve, The Selous, where your safari adventure begins.

Selous Game Reserve - Staying at Beho Beho

The UNESCO-listed Selous Game Reserve is Africa’s oldest and largest, measuring around 50,000 km² - approximately four times larger than the famed Serengeti! Remote and relatively undisturbed by humans, get set to encounter an array of wildlife - including elephant, black rhino, cheetah and giraffe - as you set out on twice-daily game drives from your base, Beho Beho (where all meals and house drinks are included). Owned by the same family for over forty years, enjoy truly unrivalled hospitality as you settle into your open-fronted 'banda' suite, enjoying the ultimate experience amid the Selous Game Reserve. Please note that only children aged 12 years and above can stay at Beho Beho.

Fly to Ruaha National Park

Take a light aircraft flight to Ruaha National Park.

Ruaha National Park - Staying at Jabali Ridge

Located west of the Selous, Ruaha National Park - the largest national park in the country - is wonderfully remote and rugged, with only a few camps nestled amid its striking wetlands and reserves. An intimate lodge of just eight suites, Jabali Ridge (where you will stay on a full board basis with house drinks also included) is the place from which you can explore this breathtaking landscape and the wildlife within it on game drives and walking safaris. Afterwards, unwind with a massage or a dip in the infinity pool, absorbing spectacular views over the vast wilderness.

Fly to London

Take a light aircraft flight back to Dar es Salaam for your flight back to London. Alternatively, you may wish to extend your stay with a few days relaxing on the beaches of Zanzibar - just ask our Luxury Travel Specialists for more information and inspiration!
