Best

The best time to visit Vietnam is spring (February to April) and autumn (August to October), as the temperatures are pleasant and there is the least amount of rain. However, due to the length and the diversity of its topography, the country experiences regional variations in climate, making it a great destination at any time of the year.

This grand urban oasis is the perfect base to explore Ho Chi Minh City. Your first day in the metropolis begins with a guided tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground labyrinth filled with numerous trapdoors. Over 250km of passages were dug out beneath the district of Cu Chi alone, to be used as a secret military city in the 1960s – they contained living quarters, field hospitals, weapon factories, kitchens and command centres. Most famously, the tunnels were used as hideouts by Vietcong Guerrillas during combat. After an included lunch in a local restaurant, enjoy an afternoon tour of Ho Chi Minh City, visiting the famed Reunification Palace, a range of striking buildings, the informative Museum of Vietnamese History, and the Jade Emperor Pagoda - a beautiful Taoist temple filled with ornate carvings and religious statues. Head back to the Park Hyatt Saigon, where you will stay on a half board basis. Your next day in the city includes a speedboat tour along the Mekong River. Learn more about local people, visit a shrimp farm, cycle to the Cao Dai Temple and make tofu alongside a Vietnamese family, before enjoying an authentic home-hosted lunch. After a tuk-tuk ride through a local village and a sail on a traditional wooden sampan boat, head back to your hotel in Saigon.
