After being met by a guide at Nagano Station, refuel with a lunch of traditional soba noodles, before a stroll along the Zenkoji Omotesando Shopping Street, home to artisan workshops and charming boutiques. Then visit the striking Zenkoji temple, founded some 1,400 years ago and home to the first Buddhist statue ever brought to Japan. After exploring Nagano, your guide will take you back to Nagano Station for your train to beautiful Yudanaka Onsen, a historical hot spring resort that is characterised by steaming onsen.
Your accommodation here is Biyu no Yado, an authentic Japanese-style ryokan. Here, enjoy delicious kaiseki dinners each evening, made solely using Japanese ingredients. Spend your time in Yudanaka as you please. A particular highlight here is the fantastic Jigokudani Monkey Park, a volcanic area home to Japan’s famous snow monkeys (or Japanese macaques) who bathe in the park's natural hot springs. The park is accessed by a scenic and easy 30-minute stroll from the car park. Please note that this is the only means of accessing the park.
