Six Senses Laamu: 'Sense of Freedom'
Posted: 11 March 2016
The only resort in the Laamu Atoll, Six Senses Laamu is something really special. As one of the most southerly islands of the Maldives archipelago, with minimal light pollution, this is where you will find the most beautiful night skies in the Indian Ocean, the clearest waters and the most vibrant marine life. That’s why we predict that their announcement of a fabulous new private yacht experience is bound to send ripples around the Indian Ocean, as guests of this heavenly over-water island resort have the chance to embark on a brand-new thirty-seven foot luxury catamaran for a truly out-of-the-ordinary experience.
A day aboard the Six Senses Laamu's yacht is enhanced by an enriching itinerary, and makes a perfect surprise for whisking your loved one away on a romantic escape, or as a treat for a special occasion, whether you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, honeymoon, or any other excuse you can think of! A great way to extend your island idyll, this is the ultimate way to explore in luxury, or to sample the yachting experience before deciding to commit to your own private charter.
Christened ‘Sense of Freedom’, the Riviera 37 Flybridge vessel is available for exclusive idyllic day excursions around the beautifully unspoiled Laamu Atoll, featuring enviable on-board facilities that will elevate any Maldivian holiday into a true once-in-a-lifetime experience. Boasting two cabins to accommodate up to six guests, along with the helpful and friendly crew on hand to assist with any requirements, the yacht comprises a master bedroom, an adjacent cabin with bunk beds, a bathroom with shower, a living room, a small kitchen galley and a large flybridge, inviting its passengers to climb aboard and embrace the warming ocean breeze as it skims the azure surface of the stunning Indian Ocean.
After embarking and venturing toward the topaz horizon, there is plenty of time to settle down and relax on the sun-soaked deck and enjoy the peaceful views of all encompassing hues of blue, before the crew provide you with poles and lines and teach you some traditional Maldivian fishing techniques – pay attention, as your catch of the day will take a place on the sizzling grill as the highlight of your dinner that night!
As the afternoon approaches, the yacht will approach a serenely deserted private island, where the crew will anchor to allow for snorkelling around the rich and colourful house reef, where you might spot stripy Oriental Sweetlips, luminous parrotfish or even gentle green turtles. Alternatively, simply relax Robinson Crusoe-style on the sandy beach with your comfortable sun lounger, set up under the dappled shade of the palm leaves, and get lost in your favourite book, or stroll the shore in search of pretty memento seashells to remind you of your dream getaway back at home. Here, the crew will also lay out a divine picnic, tailored to your preferences, topped off with a bottle of Champagne and fresh coconuts, making for a delicious mid-day tropical treat.
As evening draws in, it’s time to head back to the yacht, though your journey will not be complete before making one more stop at an ambient private sandbank, just before the sun sets, where bartenders will be waiting with signature cocktails to savour over the beautiful twilight display. There is no need to rush off back to the resort, as the evening is rounded off with an exquisite barbecue, proudly featuring your catches from the afternoon – don’t worry if you couldn’t get much to bite; you can count on the experienced chef to reel in plenty of delicious reef fish, ripe for grilling!
As the barbecue embers flicker out, you are free to relax under the balmy night sky and reflect on the day’s events. Heading back to shore, you may feel a touch of sadness over leaving the elegant yachting-life behind. However, with the palm-fringed paradise of Six Senses Laamu and all of its glories waiting, we don’t think this feeling will last for long.
