Beaches in Dubai
Carmen: La Mer is a fine new addition to the city’s urban beaches, featuring wide open spaces with palm tree-lined boulevards, graffiti art paintings and laidback charm. It has become one of my favourite spots to eat, play and unwind, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for pure luxury in Dubai! If you fancy getting away for the day or even the night, Banan Beach is incredible. Located in Jebel Ali, Banan Beach features charming cabins and tents directly along the white sands - cabins come complete with their own private jacuzzi and barbecue pits, whilst teyou can hire a tent for the night, allowing you to camp on the beach beneath Dubai's sparkling sky. There's something for everyone here, making it the perfect spot for friends on a luxury holiday in Dubai together!
Katie: Kite Beach is a long, pristine stretch of white sand just off Jumeirah Road. Action-packed and fun-filled, try kitesurfing, soap football, beach tennis, beach volleyball and kayaking, or simply bask in Dubai's glorious sunshine. There’s also all-important Wi-Fi to please tech-loving teens, plus lots of food trucks and cafes for when you’re peckish! Kite Beach is particularly busy on Friday and Saturday, when the seaside market arrives, selling crafts and gifts galore!
Dining in Dubai
Carmen: Living in Dubai means we are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining - whether you’re looking for fabulous fine dining or a quick bite to-go. One of my favourite spots to eat is the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Although it might sound like a place only for business, it also houses some of the city’s best restaurants and bars, with many featuring outdoor terraces directly facing the Burj Khalifa. If you fancy something completely different, try Dampa Seafood Grill. Located in the heart of Deira, the ambience is relaxed and welcoming, and the menu is seafood galore! Your food will arrive in huge tin bowl, filled with grilled seafood, corn-on-the-cobs and plenty of rice. Expect to enjoy the freshest shrimp, crabs, mussels and clams you’ve ever tasted!
Katie: For me, The Walk is somewhere you will find something for everyone’s taste buds. It’s a great spot for people watching and combines everything from small boutique stalls, to the well-known brands we all know and love. Many restaurants and bars are located along the beachfront, offering sublime views of the sunset in the evening. If you are a fan of cheesecake, then I would highly recommend stopping at the Cheesecake Factory - the portions are huge, so you are likely to be taking some home with you!
Katie: If you see your hotel setting up for a beautiful banquet on a Friday, then this is most likely to be why. There is a brunch in the city for everyone - couples, families or if you are here to celebrate an occasion, try a Dubai Party Brunch! Having two young children, we love the family-friendly brunch at Hanaaya, located at Jumeirah Mina A’ Salam. There’s an amazing selection of international cuisine with beautiful views of the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah and the nearby beach.
Carmen: My favourite spot for brunch is located on the 16th floor of FIVE Palm Jumeirah. The Penthouse is a lively, adults-only, rooftop lounge, featuring two glass-lined swimming pools with amazing views overlooking the Palm. Brunch includes a delicious food platter, along with a choice of refreshing, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages - the ultimate Dubai dream!
Activities in Dubai
Carmen: Dubai is full of action, adventure and unusual experiences, meaning you're sure to be kept busy while on your luxury holiday. If you already know about the Dubai’s usual excursions, why not try something different? The Middle East’s first sub-zero café lounge, Chill Out, is decorated with ice sculptures and unique seating options, all maintained within a -6 celsius environment - it’s a very cool place to go enjoy a good cup of hot chocolate and cake! Alternatively, take a traditional Arabic Dhow cruise, including a unique dining experience with live entertainment and breathtaking views in different locations; choose from Old Dubai, Dubai Marina or the newest addition, The Dubai Waterfall Bridge, which takes you around the whole of Dubai Canal.
