Location and transfer

All journeys commence from Dublin Heuston Station. Belmond Grand Hibernian offers three wonderful journeys: the two night journey heading north to Belfast, the four night journey taking in Cork and Galway, and the six night journey combining the two and four night itineraries along with a trip to the city of Dublin.

The Belmond Grand Hibernian offers 16 twin cabins and 4 double cabins, each featuring their own private en-suite bathroom. Each cabin reflects Dublin’s classic Georgian style and features a wardrobe, desk and chair as well as ultra-comfortable beds. Each cabin is named after an Irish county and is decorated in that particular county’s very own tartan. Kerry, for example, comes in beautiful shades of purple, whilst Waterford is dressed in calming blues. The huge windows in each cabin give way to the most splendid of views as the journey unfolds.

Rail Travel

The first luxury rail experience of its kind in Ireland, Belmond Grand Hibernian traverses the sprawling countryside, dramatic coasts and fascinating cities that define this captivating island. Step aboard and discover luxurious carriages, fine cuisine and stunning views of Ireland's renowned landscapes. Select from a choice of two-, four- and six-night journeys, all of which depart from Dublin, before passing the highlights of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. As well as the lavish sleeping cabins, the Observation Car is the perfect venue for mingling with fellow passengers, sampling Irish whiskey or enjoying wonderful live music. There are also two air conditioned dining carriages, each serving exquisite Irish-influenced cuisine from breakfast through to lunch and dinner, including delicious artisan cheeses and amazing smoked fish. Sligo is fabulously elegant with accents of silver and chrome with guests seated at tables of four, whilst Wexford reflects its Irish roots with Celtic references and Irish tweeds and tartans, offering tables for six guests.

City Highlights

Alongside its natural beauty, Ireland's cities are unmatched in vibrancy and charm. After leaving the cobbled streets of Dublin behind, experience captivating Belfast, boasting the fascinating Titanic Experience and the striking Grand Opera House. On the longer journeys, the sights of historic Cork - including St. Finbarre's Cathedral and the famous Jameson whiskey distillery - await. Later, a visit to lovely Galway allows you to explore its charming old city centre, filled with independent shops, brightly painted pubs and glorious street theatre. The six-night journey takes you back for a tour around bustling Dublin, where you can visit Trinity College or sail down the River Liffey.

Culture & History

Boasting a turbulent, yet fascinating history and vibrant culture, Ireland is somewhere well worth exploring. Visit Old Bushmills Distillery - the oldest in Ireland - where five, award-winning, local whiskies continue to be produced; be sure to sample the drink that Ireland is famed for. As well as exploring the cities, which are steeped in their own history and culture, Blarney Castle - famed for its Blarney stone - stands just outside of Cork; passengers of the Belmond Grand Hibernian can enjoy an exclusive viewing, avoiding any queues. Remnants of Galway's medieval town walls still remain, whilst the bustling pubs and street music give a true taste of Ireland.
