Wineries
Croatian wine making history can be traced back to ancient times and the tradition continues today in Istria. You can visit a number of family-owned wineries – some traditional, and others developing a modern method. Take a wine-tasting tour and discover all of the region’s fantastic wines, including their fresh and fruity white wine Istarska Malvasija.
Cuisine
Istria is a dream destination for any budding connoisseur of cuisine. Food is fresh, local and unbelievably delicious —the perfect combination for great gastronomy. Cuisine varies dependant on where you may be eating in the region. Coastal restaurants naturally offer more seafood dishes, whilst inland outlets offer hearty dishes such as steak or stews, but no matter where you may be dining, you can expect mouth-watering cuisine and stunning views as an accompaniment.
Historical Sites
With thanks to the many cultures, civilizations, and countries that have made an impact on Istria, its history is rich and diverse, and remains evident throughout the region. Many historical monuments, remains, and documents have been well preserved and offer insight into the colourful history of Istria. The popular Episcopal Complex of the Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just one of the exceptional pieces of history you can uncover in this diverse region.
