I was born and raised in South Africa, but have since swapped the suburbs of Johannesburg for the hills of North Wales. Ironically, since moving to the UK I’ve explored more of Africa and the Indian Ocean than when they were on my doorstep! I love the game reserves, but also the beaches, the coastal culture and the incredible scenery, and as well as exploring the destinations, I enjoy trying out the more adventurous activities. My travels have also taken me to Asia and South America, where there’s a great choice of five star accommodation complemented by five star experiences. Some of my personal favourites worldwide have been a helicopter flight over Kenya's Lake Natron, snorkelling off an idyllic Madagascan Island, being impressed by the mountain scenery at Machu Picchu, exploring Cambodian temples, and learning about the fascinating history of Sri Lanke’s Galle Fort on a walking tour.
As an African Specialist, I feel that Africa has a great choice of five star accommodations, complemented by five star experiences. Some of my personal favourites have been a helicopter flights over Kenya's Lake Natron, snorkelling off the idyllic Tsarabanjina Island in northern Madagascar, plus a luxury horse-riding safari in South Africa's Waterberg district.
