Hawaii enjoys warm temperatures and sunny skies year-round, and makes a good destination to visit at any time. However, rainfall can occur at anytime, with the wettest months being November to April. The islands also experience microclimates due to the tradewinds that blow from east to west, meaning sunny and rainy spots can often both be found on the same island.

Enjoy 9 nights on the island of Maui staying at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

Guests will check-in and settle into their elegant guest room at the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea hotel, boasting the largest guest rooms and bathrooms on Maui, classic contemporary décor and over-sized marble bathroom with Lorenzo Villoresi amenities, before taking the opportunity to explore the impressive resort facilities. Also upon check-in, guests will receive an updated HWO itinerary, which takes into account current weather conditions, plus any specialist kit which they may require.

With the first two days at leisure, clients will have ample opportunity to acclimatise, relax, fully unpack and enjoy the resort’s amenities. Located on the iconic south-west coast of Maui, overlooking a golden-sand crescent and with the dramatic peak of Haleakalā behind, this luxury 380 room hotel is set within beautiful tropical grounds and is only a short walk from the famous Wailea Beach, and adjacent to Wailea Golf Club — perfect for a round of golf. With such lush tropical gardens, gentle waters and classical Hawaiian palace design, guests are assured of the quintessential swaying palms, ocean vistas and dreamy sunsets for which Hawaii is world-renowned.

Days 1 and 2 - Enjoy the hotel facilities

With a stay of nine nights, guests will have plenty of opportunity to indulge within the hotel’s exceptional programmes and facilities. From the state-of-the-art fitness area, to the award-winning spa, with its thirteen treatment rooms, superb dining options (the hotel boasts three of Maui’s top-rated restaurants), three boutiques, three golf courses and two tennis courts, there is an array of activities to enjoy. For those more intent on relaxing and enjoying the near-perfect Hawaiian weather, there are no-less than fifty-eight cabanas located across the resort, three ocean-side hales, three saltwater swimming pools and four bars. Whether you choose to start your day with SUP Yoga, surfing, or scuba-diving among the nearby reefs, there is always the afternoon to discover the hotel’s daily Artist Programme, learn about the hotel’s Outrigger Canoe Programme, take a leisurely snorkel, or perhaps even enjoy a round of golf on the nearby Emerald Course — complete with spectacular ocean views of course!

The sunny days inevitably lead to wonderful balmy evenings and guests can savour the gentle, floral-scented ocean breeze with refreshing, cooling cocktails and mouth-watering sushi platters at the attractive outdoor Lobby Bar, or dine al fresco at Ferraro’s Bar e Ristorante or poolside at DUO steak and seafood restaurant. With such captivating sunsets, clients will no doubt be torn between the tantalising aromas wafting from the Kiawe wood-burning oven, and the brilliant open-kitchen theatrics of DUO. For a taste of Hawaiian fusion flare, Spago, under the direction of Master Chef Wolfgang Puck, delivers exciting Hawaiian and Californian cuisine, complemented by panoramic ocean views. Of course, should you plan to rise early and prefer to take a lighter meal, there is always the option of in-room dining.

Should guests wish to spend some time exploring the island outside of the resort, there is always the hotel’s expert concierge team, available within the hotel, to provide an additional source of insightful local knowledge for eateries, transfers, shopping trips or surf shops.

Day 3 - Free-diving and sunset cruise

Rising early with anticipation for your first day of HWO activities, guests will be invited to take part in a variety of yoga disciplines (including Vinayasa Flow, Ashtanga or Hatha practice), accompanied by cold pressed juices. Once suitably awake and warmed-up, clients will have the opportunity to take part in their first session of entry-level free-diving session, under the expert guidance of the HWO team.

Shelby Eisenberg, is one of the most trusted and accomplished women in the Pacific Ocean. Both a world-class instructor and champion free-diver, she also brings a wealth of knowledge on wider subjects such as how to survive big wave wipe-outs, recreational free-diving and hazardous water conditions. A fountain of knowledge on her beloved native Maui, she is actually qualified to teach advanced free-diving down to 200 feet! So, not only will guests be taught their mammalian diving reflex, necessary breathing techniques, lung exercises and science behind the art of free-diving, they will also benefit from Shelby’s infectious passion for Hawaii itself. With further practice within the pool and open ocean, within days, guests will re-define their personal limits, diving deeper and staying down longer than they would ever have thought possible.

Following a light breakfast, guests can continue with their introduction to free-diving, before taking lunch and enjoying a restful afternoon, at their leisure. Alternatively, clients can opt to go spear-fishing with Mark Healey and then try traditional 'ocean to table' fare with a cooking lesson from the Four Seasons chef. For a memorable end to day one, a wonderful sunset cruise has been arranged with chilled Champagne and delicious canapés.

Day 4 - Yoga, scuba-diving and private picnic

Day four, in resort, involves underwater fun. Following a start of cold-pressed juices and therapeutic yoga, clients will embark on a Beginner's Introduction to Scuba course, with PADI certified HWO staff in the hotel pool. Both the PADI instructor and Mark Healey will go through all the facets of safety and regulations, to ensure that you are fully prepared for ocean diving, later in your trip. For clients who are already PADI qualified, a brief overview and bespoke experience will take place. For lunch, guests will be spoilt with a fresh, local Hawaiian picnic on a stunning private beach and the afternoon is free to perhaps indulge in a little sunbathing or hotel spa treatment or two. The evening is free to explore beyond the resort and visit a local restaurant.

Day 5 - Free-dive and deep-sea fishing

With the welcoming start of a new day, embrace the sunshine and enjoy a little vegetable juice and yoga, or meditation, in preparation of the day’s adventures. With an enviable choice of free-diving tuition, or an introduction to scuba-diving, clients can enjoy the morning learning new skills or improving existing ones. Following breakfast, an enthralling deep-sea fishing trip has been arranged, with an expert local Hawaiian fisherman, to take guests further off-shore to see the beauty of the island from afar — along with a glimpse into the rich variety of tropical deep-sea fish species. As a reward for your fishing efforts, the evening dinner will be your very own Catch of the Day! Be lucky!

Day 6 - Free-boarding, kite-boarding or windsurfing

With an early start of yoga and cold-pressed juice, guests can enjoy their third introductory level free-diving lesson out at the Molokini dive site — their first open ocean free dive. Mark Healey and fellow expert, Shelly Eisenberg, will be there to expertly support and advise during this special moment.Alternatively, should guests prefer to scuba dive, an intermediate adventure has been arranged, whereby guests can climb into a private open-cockpit helicopter and soar over waterfalls, lush jungle, and the rugged and breathtaking Hanna coastline, before landing at a secret and remote dive location. Once you have caught your breath, a wonderfully farm-fresh picnic will be waiting for you — in a stunningly dramatic location. The afternoon can be spent trying new water pursuits, such as kite-boarding at world famous Hookipa Beach. You will be flown via helicopter, to meet HWO experts and legendary windsurfer and kite-boarder Reo Stevens, who will provide expert tuition on the beach, before you are let loose to fly up and over the waves on your kite-board!Dinner will be a relaxed affair, back at the hotel, allowing you to relive your day and gain some much needed rest!

Day 7 - Free-diving, boat trip and fishing

Following an exhilarating outdoor yoga or meditation session, accompanied by freshly-squeezed health-promoting juice, it’s time to continue your free-diving practice, with a fourth lesson. Taking approximately four to five hours, clients will be driven, or taken by boat, to Molokini dive site. Continue your progress with Mark Healey and Shelly Eisenberg and increase your aptitude for depths and breath holds. Once the day's dives have been completed, clients will receive an introductory free-diving certification — what an achievement! Clients will then be ready for the next stage of the course. After a delicious gourmet picnic on the beach, and spending a little time soaking up the Hawaiian sunshine, guests have the opportunity to head out on a sunset deep-sea fishing charter. Cruise past the shallow Auau Channel, to the superb natural fishing grounds further off-shore and look out for seasonal Humpback Whales, prey for a bill fish, such as the occasional sailfish, plus try to catch a Pacific Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi or Striped Marlin. Watch the sun slowly slip to the horizon, and finally set on another adventure-packed day, before returning for a well-deserved sleep!

Day 8 - Sunrise at Haleakala Crater

Greet the warming sunrise with gusto and join an incredible excursion to Haleakala. Guests have the choice of hiking, flying by helicopter, or taking a private car to the crater known as the East Maui Volcano. This massive shield volcano takes up 75% of the island of Maui and offers a dramatic lunar-style landscape with sensational panoramic views. Reminding guests of its dynamic, volcanic origin this trip to the Haleakala National Park provides a stunning contrast to the vivid blue ocean and wondrous water pursuits. Serving to highlight the volatility of the chain of Hawaiian islands, guests will no doubt return with a feeling of accomplishment and greater respect for the region.

Whether guests choose to hike, cycle or fly back down, they will be served with a superb, locally sourced, breakfast of organic island fruits and local coffee. Continuing the culinary theme, clients can enjoy a wonderful poolside lunch, hosted by Mark Healey and members of his impressive HWO team. With table conversation inevitably dominated by colourful tales and global adventures, guests cannot help but feel inspired. The remainder of the day is at leisure — to take a guided meditation session, or allowing plenty of time to recover and indulge in the hotel’s superb facilities.

Day 9 - Traditional Hawaiian Outrigger Canoeing

Following the daily ritual of energising yoga and specialist juices, guests can savour a decadent breakfast with time at leisure. The afternoon entails learning about the native Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe, with guests receiving a specialist induction and training programme from a much-respected local professional. With the rest of the day at leisure, guests will have ample time to digest the cultural insights and historical significance they have gleaned for the outrigger canoe.

Depart Maui for Lanai

Day 10

Today sees clients leave the island of Maui and take a boat charter to the small private island of Lanai, for a new ocean adventure. Clients can fish or dive their way across to Lanai, which is just a few miles west of Maui. Offering a thrilling change of scenery, Lanai once boasted Hawaii’s largest pineapple plantation and now draws visitors to its crystal-clear waters, pristine beaches, lush botanical gardens and exceptional golf courses. Renowned for offering a taste of ‘old Hawaiian’ spirit, it also provides a marine sanctuary for Spinner Dolphins and Humpback Whales.

Enjoy 4 nights on the island of Lanai staying at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai

Following their arrival at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, guests are free to settle into the resort and to admire the stunning location — the hotel is set atop a rugged red-lava cliff, overlooking a white-sand beach and Pacific Ocean at Hulopo’e Bay — before taking to the waters of the beautiful bay in a kayak, or snorkelling, to admire turtles, dolphins and sea-life up-close. Kayaking is a serene way to connect with the surface of the ocean — feel the sunshine on your back, deftly paddle and soak up the ocean breeze, taste the salty spray and hear the gentle lapping of the waves.

Following a casual lunch at Kailani, enjoying local organic delicacies, such as Polynesian Ceviche or fish tacos, made from the produce of Hawaiian fishermen and farmers, the afternoon can be spent at the hotel indulging with an ocean-side massage. Alternatively, for those keen to keep their adrenalin levels pumping, clients have the opportunity to be taken via helicopter, or private car, to world famous Hookipa Beach for windsurfing or kite-boarding with expert instructor, Reo Stevens. The evening is free to dine at the hotel's fabulous NOBU LANAI restaurant, savour cocktails or mocktails, and be entertained by the sunset sabering ceremony.

Day 11 - Pelagic free-diving and scuba-diving
Following an early start, prepare for an epic, all-day adventure! Head out to the deep crystal-clear blue water, in order to explore the various depths, to witness a range of pelagic species of fish and sea creatures. Neither near the coast, nor at the bottom of the ocean, the pelagic zone is a specific section of the ocean that attracts particular coastal or oceanic fish which inhabit a specific depth. Share this wilderness with Mark Healey and his awesome team of water professionals, visiting hidden gems and witnessing their ocean prowess, up-close. Admire Mark, in his element, spear-fishing and free-diving, or advance your progress with further tuition in your choice of ocean discipline — perhaps scuba dive to remote sections of coastline, areas which are rarely visited by more conventional dive operators. Clients are guaranteed to discover awe-inspiring scenery below the waves — vibrant corals, rare species and unbelievable caverns — an experience to last a life-time!After a thrilling dive, and once safely returned to shore, guests can catch their breath and enjoy some leisure time in one of the many relaxing hotel lounges, or experiencing the many hotel attractions — perhaps head for the immaculate fairway or be pampered in the spa, before preparing for a very special farewell dinner. Join Mark Healey and his elite team, for a traditional Hawaiian Luau feast, in authentic style. This private feast will enable you to review your progress and relax in the company of an incredible ocean collective — what a privilege to share your highlights and listen to their professional experiences from around the globe. To top it all, you can also receive a personalised video, or photographic journal, of your extraordinary ocean adventure — a memento like no other!

Days 12 to 14 - Relax at leisure

Having completed the pre-arranged ocean package, guests can now spend their final three days completely at leisure. Whether it is lying in, with a late breakfast, enjoying the many other inter-island attractions, or simply relaxing within the luxurious resort — guests are spoilt for choice. With a selection of three cliff-edge fairways and signature Jack Nicklaus Golf Course, a Hookipa Cultural Programme, horse-riding and hiking, Peter Burwash International Tennis Facility, six retail boutiques, plus eight bars and restaurants, resort residents are never short of experiences to enjoy. For those completely hooked on the ocean attractions, there is plenty of time to hone their skills further, or simply sunbathe and snorkel at leisure.

Whether choosing to relax and recover, hone new skills or simply enjoy everything heavenly Hawaii has to offer — guests are bound to leave the bountiful destination greatly inspired, technically wiser and physically stronger. Having gained a deeper and more informed respect for all things ocean-related, guests can leave the island bursting with tales from their ocean adventures, whilst feeling immense pride in their new accomplishments.
