Today, you’ll be heading to quiet Serra Cafema, the most remote camp in southern Africa which resides in a lush, watery oasis in the desert, providing a stark contrast to the scenery found at Little Ongava. Here, the lunar-like terrain comprises rugged mountains, the sand dunes of the Namib Desert and Albida trees dotted along the riverbank. In this region, you will come across Nile Crocodiles, oryxs, gemsbock, springbok, Hartmann's Mountain Zebra, Desert Chameleons and some characteristic bird species.
While here, you’ll have the chance to go on a 4x4 Land Rover excursion, boating on the Kunene River, enjoy an eco-sensitive, guided quad-bike excursion or a full-day trip to Marienfluss Valley, complemented by a delicious picnic lunch. If you’re fortunate enough to be staying here when the Himba tribe is in the area, you’ll also have the opportunity to visit them in their village to learn about their lives and culture. Back at Serra Cafema, you can enjoy a romantic, lamplit dinner on the banks of the river and take a refreshing dip in its swimming pool.
