From the fashionable streets of Milan to the glitz and glamour of Monte Carlo, follow the road in style in the seat of your own fabulous Ferrari, exploring picturesque wine regions and idyllic medieval towns along your way. This four-night itinerary, presented in partnership with Red Travel, is expertly tailored to ensure these much sought after regions of Italy and France are enjoyed at their best, allowing guests to savour the food, wine and culture that saturates this dazzling landscape.

While on the road, you will be assisted by your personal Tour Director, who will fully brief you on how to handle your vehicle and answer any questions. With luggage transported separately, your car will be fully serviced throughout the duration of your journey, with parking, cleaning and refuelling all handled for you by the helpful Red Travel team, who will also provide any mechanical or technical assistance you require along your way.

Arriving in the stylish city of Milan, where you will spend the night in the heart of the action at the five-star Four Seasons Hotel, Milan, you will be introduced to your ‘Prancing Horse’ on your second day. You will have plenty of time to familiarise yourself with, and to relish in, the adrenaline-pumping roar of the engine as you cruise along the scenic roads of the wine and truffle regions of Langhe. Stopping over night at the charming and historic hotel, Relais San Maurizio, you will next head towards the French Riviera, resting in the famous Monte Carlo for your final two nights. While here, you will traverse the sinuous roads of Provence, stopping by tucked away medieval villages to admire their architecture and artistic legacy, before reaching the town Grasse, which is known as the perfume capital of the world. Returning to Monte Carlo for your final night, take the time to explore the glittering Principality of Monaco, before waving goodbye to your Ferrari for your flight home.

Having arrived in the grand Italian metropolis of Milan, check in to the Four Seasons Hotel, located just steps away from couture houses and the home of Italy’s stock exchange, for the first night of your journey. Surrounded by the chic and sleek shopping district, take a rest before heading out for some retail therapy in the country’s much-envied capital of fashion, where luxury brands and speciality boutiques host an array of unique wardrobe pieces; from luxe leather and jewelled cocktail dresses to casual daytime chic, there is no questioning that style oozes from every corner – make for Quadrilatero d’Oro for superior, branded fashions and the many outlets of Corso Magenta, Corso Buenos Aires, Corso Vercelli and Via Brera.

If shopping isn’t high on your agenda, take a guided tour to fully appreciate the all-encompassing Italian eye for beauty, manifesting itself in the form of elaborate architecture and invaluable works of art. Home to outstanding Renaissance and cutting-edge contemporary pieces, as well as Leonardo da Vinci’s famous ‘The Last Supper’, there are plenty of masterpieces to marvel at, along with the captivating 14th Century gothic cathedral, which is second only to Rome’s St Peters when it comes to size. Head through the famed Galleria, perhaps one of the world’s most elegant shopping malls, and be lead to the illustrious La Scala Opera House, a world-famous address for opera, ballet and choral concerts. Be sure to stop for an afternoon espresso and watch this energetic city pass by.

When you have completed your day of shopping and sightseeing, retire back to your hotel for a rest before dinner – perhaps sip on Prosecco and enjoy an aperitif at the hotel lounge while pondering where to spend your evening in this prestigious yet romantic city, and feel the anticipation rise for the next day’s events!

The time has come – your Ferrari awaits! Be met by your personal Tour Director, and receive the keys to your vehicle, as you are given a full brief on the finer details of the controls and receive guidance on how to handle the F1 paddle-gear shifting behind the wheel. Led by your Tour Director in his Alfa Romeo Giulia, who will be in constant radio contact, weave your way through the most beautiful spots of the picturesque grape-growing Langhe region, enjoying outstanding views of the famous Piedmont vineyards and the beauty of the surrounding natural environment.

Spend the morning of the second day of your journey travelling through Alessandria and Asti, before arriving in Alba, where you will stop for lunch. One of the gastronomic capitals of Italy, Alba is famed for its trove of white truffles, fantastic selection of wines and a rich variety of fine Italian food, making it an essential place to stop off for a much-needed bite to eat! Dating back to the Roman Empire, Alba was once known as the ‘city with a hundred towers’, and visitors will now come across a lovely town with castles, medieval palaces and many churches. Barolo

+

For the afternoon of your second day, drive past the magnificent vineyards and breathtaking countryside vistas and arrive at Barolo for your next stop. A true joy for wine lovers, the surrounding hamlets of Barolo, Barbaresco and La Morra are a must, with some of the most prestigious vineyards of the Piedmont region. To the west is the town of Pollenzo, a parish of Bra, whose castle was once a royal hunting retreat. It is also home to the University of Gastronomic Sciences, founded by Carlo Petrini, who started the Slow Food movement, focusing on the organic relationship between food and culture. To the east lies Roero, a site of Roman ruins, while to the south you can visit the Grinzane Cavour Castle or the palace and wineries in Verduno. No matter where you go, you’ll pass rolling vineyards and the small family estates that characterise winemaking in the hilly Langhe region.

Relais San Maurizio

+

Having ventured through the hills and vineyards of the Langhe area of Piedmont, it’s time for a rest at the stunning Relais & Chateaux resort, Relais San Maurizio, for the second night of your journey. Cradled in the UNESCO World Heritage land of gentle countryside and vineyards, where twisting roads lead to hilltop villages and medieval castles, there is not a place more magical to rest your head for the night than this 17th Century former monastery. The hotel is famous for its fabulous spa, The Monastery Medical & Beauty SPA, where medicine and nature combine to make sumptuous treatments, inspired by the resort’s location along one of the five ancient Salt Roads that carried salt from the Ligurian Sea to beyond the Alps. While here, you must try the Salt Cave, an ethereal Roman grotto utilising the therapeutic properties and spiritual benefits of the naturally heated waters, rich in healing minerals for a deeply rejuvenating experience.

Nestled in its own beautiful Mediterranean herb garden and organic vegetable garden, this is yet another essential gastronomic discovery to add to your journey. The hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Guido da Costigliole, continues the slow food tradition of creating exquisite cuisine from locally and personally sourced ingredients, served in the ancient cellars of the monastery where the original stone and exposed brick walls create a warm and charming atmosphere.

After resting in the spa and savouring the delectable flavours and alluring ambience of the region, retire to your uniquely styled guestroom, where elegance and comfort combine for a timelessly luxurious retreat.

Drive along the Ligurian Coast

Start your third morning back behind the wheel of your Ferrari, exploring the scenic Ligurian Coast.

5

Liguria

+

Tracing the northern curve of Italy’s boot, make your way along the picturesque coast of Liguria - a quaint strip that perches along the sea, stretching from Tuscany to the French border. This idyllic region is often termed the ‘Italian Riviera’ after the seaside resorts and elegant promenades that nestle along the rocky Mediterranean basin of the Ligurian Sea. Framed by the imposing Alpine mountains that cascade out from the inland region, there are five colourful fishing villages along the route, known as the ‘Cinque Terre’, where you will find charming pebble beaches and delightful gardens. Stop a couple of kilometres inland, at Finalborgo, and enjoy a restful lunch. This traditional medieval village is often considered one of Italy’s most beautiful, and dates back to at least the 12th Century. Characterised by its hardy fortress walls and gates that helped to protect the town from attacks from Genoa, this captivating village is a lovely place to spend the afternoon.

Head off in your Ferrari towards France for Monte Carlo

Behind the wheel once again, prepare to wave goodbye to ‘bella Italia’, as you depart for France for the third day of your journey.

Monte Carlo, Monaco

Staying at

Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo

+

Welcome to fabulous Monte Carlo! Arriving in the afternoon of the third day of your journey, you will spend two nights at the exclusive Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo. After taking a rest, wake up on your fourth day and head off in your Ferrari to explore the alluring region of Provence, stopping by charming towns as you weave your way along the scenic roads. Return to the hotel that evening for the final night of your journey, and wake up to spend your final morning discovering the region of Monaco at your own leisure.

A world-renowned area in the principality of Monaco, synonymous with glamour, wealth and prestige, this is the home of the famous Formula One Grand Prix, where the world’s millionaires are drawn like magnets to one of the sporting events of the year. Its most well-known landmark is its breathtaking Belle Époque casino, oozing opulence from its ornate exterior and equally impressive interiors, open every morning for visitors to nose around before the more sophisticated evening events take off. Inspiring Ian Fleming’s James Bond novel, Casino Royale, as well as featuring in screen adaptions for ‘Never Say Never Again’ and ‘GoldenEye’, it’s no surprise that this is considered one of the Mediterranean’s glitziest spots.

It’s not all style and no substance, though. The surrounding area of Monaco is steeped in a rich and colourful history; founded in 1861 independently from its neighbour, France, it stands with its own monarchy with the Sovereign Prince or Princess as its head. Cultural enthusiasts will relish the Old Town quarter, while there are magnificent walks, parks and gardens all within easy reach. There are also more than a hundred shops and restaurants in and around the area, while the Palace of Monaco wont fail to impress with its fortress exterior and flamboyant renaissance décor – from April to October, you can peek inside the State Apartments, and if you stop by at five-to-twelve in the afternoon, watch the daily changing of the guard. Just outside, you may also wish to admire the classic car collection of the Prince, where almost one-hundred vehicles are lined up for viewing.

Staying at

Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo

+

In the nineteenth century the rich and the privileged flocked to the regal Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo, favoring its ostentatious atmosphere and prestigious reputation. Centuries on and little has changed. Guests still arrive for the glamour of yesteryear, combined with the contemporary, racy vibe of modern-day Monte-Carlo. The grand hotel’s guest suites are flushed with Victorian accents and heavy, floral fabrics, but at the same time feel fresh and sassy. Facilities are extensive and the delicious cuisine, served in the three restaurants, features sophisticated Mediterranean flavors, contemporary and healthy Japanese dishes, along with seasonal, fresh creations at the alfresco restaurant, Odyssey. Over time, Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo has perfected the concoction of the old versus the new; with history etched into its walls and a youthful energy radiating through every pore – it’s little wonder guests become hooked on such an addictive combination.

Explore Provence in your Ferrari

On the morning of the fourth day of your journey, depart from Monte Carlo toward Vence.

7

Vence

+

Your first stop of your fourth day is Vence, a historic and artistic city that is cherished for having charmed many of the most celebrated painters in the artistic and literary canon, such as Dufy, Chagall, Dubuffet, Carzou, D.H Lawrence and Henry Matisse, who devised the Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence, which now houses a collection of his original paintings. You will also want to visit the Romanesque cathedral and its adjoining Saint Lambert Tower, containing sacred artefacts dating back to the 15th, 16th and 17th Centuries.

Ideally situated between the sea and mountains, this authentically preserved town is surrounded by ramparts dating from the 13th Century, while, for nature lovers, the Vençois countryside offers plenty of scenic walks.

Continue on to Saint Paul de Vence

8

Saint Paul de Vence

+

Built on its rocky outcrop, and surrounded by ramparts built on the orders of Francois I of France, Saint Paul de Vence is one of the most beautiful villages of Provence. While here, walk the beautifully preserved medieval streets, from the Porte Royale to Porte Sud, where you will discover magnificent stone facades from the 16th and 18th Centuries. Lose yourself in the maze of charming streets, the colourful gardens, shady squares, ancient fountains and picturesque porches, and you will see why this idyllic little town is such a favourite for photographers. To appreciate some of the modern art world’s finest pioneers, visit the Maeght Foundation, where a fascinating selection of sculptures blend into the gardens; encounter pieces by names such as Jean Arp, Anthony Caro, Damien Cabanes, Eduardo Chillida, Erik Dietman, Barbara Hepworth, Fabrice Hyber and Joan Miró. Stop here for lunch before carrying to your final stop for the day.

After lunch, depart in your Ferrari for Grasse

9

Grasse

+

Enjoy the afternoon of the fourth day of your journey in the world’s perfume capital, Grasse, which first developed back in the 18th Century out of the former tanning industry. Set up in the hills, this old Provencal city is blessed with fresh air and fields of rippling flowers, and is a picture of old-fashion cobbled streets and charming shuttered windows. While here, you may wish to visit the Fragonard and Galimard perfume factories which both offer complimentary tours around their beautifully historic buildings, and learn more about the fascination process and history behind the crafting of fine fragrances - discover the secrets of the base products and the carefully tuned balance of aromas, and even create your own personalised perfume to remind you of your time in Grasse.
