Journey Highlights

There is, perhaps, nothing quite as evocative of Italy’s enticing culture and history as the stunning landscapes of Florence and Tuscany. The former, a king of a city and the illustrious birthplace of the Renaissance, is a patchwork of romantic architecture and prestigious galleries fringing the Arno River. The latter conjures up images of rustic charm and sprawling wine regions, offering a hearty dose of authentic rural Italy. Together, a journey across this alluring region offers a seductive combination of Italy’s finest offerings, from sensationally seasonal farmhouse food and timelessly iconic landscapes, to fascinating realms of history and culture.

Ideal for families, this journey from Florence through the heart Tuscany encapsulates the joys of discovering this captivating region on your own terms. With your own hire car, self-driving between your stops enables you to take in the breathtaking sights and savour it all at your own pace, before relaxing in five-star comfort at our hand-picked luxury hotels. Stop for an afternoon picnic under the olive trees, linger in the evening sun or run loose on rolling hills, and experience for yourself why Italy is such a popular destination for families of all ages. Whether whizzing across country roads on Vespas or getting hands on with your food at one of many cooking classes, there is plenty to tempt everyone into giving in to the enchantments of Italy’s infatuating culture.

The climate in Tuscany is generally very mild. The coast and valleys tend to have hotter summers than the hills or mountains although the coast benefits from breezes off the sea for cooler temperatures. April and May as well as October and November are good months to visit Tuscany: when the days are mostly sunny.

Winter offers many mild days but nights are cold, particularly in hill areas. Just dress in layers, to be prepared for shifts between daytime and evening.
