The Puglia climate is typically Mediterranean. We have short mild winters and hot dry summers. Puglia is one of the driest and hottest areas in Italy. Even in January temperatures average 10 degrees Celsius. Temperatures are at their highest from mid June to the end of August. Early June and September are warm and sunny, perfect for exploring Puglia's many cities and towns. The beautiful weather generally continues through till the end of October with sea temperatures still inviting.

Stay at Don Ferrante, Italy

Staying at

Don Ferrante

Don Ferrante is quite literally part of Italian history. Built into the city's 16th century defensive walls, the luxury hotel combines rustic architecture with stylish sophistication for stunning effect. In addition to its unique surroundings, Don Ferrante wins guests over with a sumptuous selection of exclusive experiences. These include food, wine and oil tastings, cooking classes, sightseeing tours with multilingual local guides, around the ancient old town and historical sights on the hotel's own tuk tuk. Furthermore, the hotel’s dedicated personal shopper can visit Monopoli’s high-end boutiques on your behalf, or accompany you for a day of designer shopping. The region of Puglia, in south eastern Italy, attracts fewer tourists than its better-known counterparts including Tuscany, and as such offers those who have visited Italy before a different and less busy perspective. In fact, don’t be surprised to find shops and attractions closed for a few hours from lunchtime, but this is part of the region’s appeal and gives you the chance to relax like a local. Stretching across wonderful coastline of both the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, Puglia has some fantastic beaches, as well as rolling countryside, medieval hill towns and Roman and the Greek ruins.

Staying at

Don Ferrante

If you’re seeking a slower pace of life, intertwined with the allure of the dolce vita, Don Ferrante is sure to please. Steeped in traditional sophistication and fine Italian heritage, the hotel is a peaceful retreat overlooking the sparkling Adriatic Sea. Surrounded by ancient churches, winding lanes and magnificent views of the Bari coastline, it is perfectly situated for exploring the nearby towns and enjoying fine Puglian hospitality. Take breakfast in the 15th century gunpowder store or take a dip in the secluded outdoor pool, neatly tucked away in the corner of the vast outdoor terrace. Boasting just ten guest rooms, the accommodation is tasteful and homely, with honey-hued walls made of stone, Puglian limestone bathrooms and traditional Italian ceramics. After exploring the region’s finest shops and touring the best sights, the ideal way to unwind is with the hotel’s signature massages, available in the privacy of your room or alfresco on the sun terrace. Where Don Ferrante truly excels, however, is with its unparalleled dedication to personalised, discreet first-class service.

Hidden in Puglia's idyllic landscape, and surrounded by ancient olive trees, Masseria San Domenico effortlessly interlaces Italy's past riches with contemporary luxury. Like the largely unexplored region of Puglia itself, the hotel is full of hidden wonders, most notably the caves beneath the property which were home to Apulian monks fleeing Moorish attackers during the Middle Ages. Deeper underground, a natural hot spring provides the mineral-rich water for hotel’s Thalassotherapy spa, a centre dedicated to relaxation, as befits the unspoiled surroundings.
