Itinerary Highlights

Our Classic Tanzania ten-night itinerary is a wonderful safari adventure through Tanzania’s ‘Northern Circuit’, including four of the country's most iconic national parks and conservation areas. Go in search of Lake Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, before exploring the dramatic volcanic landscapes of the Ngorongoro Conservation area. Learn more about the local culture with a visit to a traditional Maasai village, followed by a safari through the vast open plains of the Serengeti.

Throughout your journey, you'll stay in charming lodges and camps in prime wildlife-viewing spots. Daily safaris will introduce to the country's mesmerising ecosystems, as you encounter creatures great and small. Your expert driver-guide will explain the flora and fauna of the region, as you journey from the pink flamingos of Lake Manyara, to the vast herds of elephant in Tarangire National Park. The grand finale to your adventure is the spectacular Serengeti National Park, home to prowling predators and the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra.

The cost is inclusive of park fees, a private guide, transfers, scheduled game drives, selected meals, soft drinks, tea, coffee, bottled water, local beer and house wine.

Unlike some of the more southern parks, Tanzania's 'Northern Circuit' parks offer plentiful wildlife-spotting opportunities all year round. The Great Migration of Wildebeest is best seen in June and July, while animals are generally easier to spot in the dry season (from June to October) as they gather around watering holes and rivers. The wetter months (from November to May) have plenty of reasons to visit still; it is an excellent time to see predator action and the best time of year for birdwatching.

A pre-safari stay in Arusha at Arusha Coffee Lodge

+

After landing arriving in Arusha, a vibrant city overlooked by striking Mount Meru, check in for your stay at Arusha Coffee Lodge. Perfectly located at the gateway of northern Tazania's mesmerising National Parks, the lodge lies adjacent to one of Tanzania's largest coffee estates. The Plantation House, which dates back to the early 1900s, is where you will find the restaurant and café bistro, although most guests prefer to dine in the gardens, in which the aroma of coffee is never far away. Learn the fascinating processes behind making the perfect coffee blend with a tour of the estate, take a dip in the secluded swimming pool, or indulge in a spa treatment; the perfect recipe for relaxation before you embark on your Tanzanian adventure.

Elewana Coffee Lodge to Chem Chem Lodge

Your driver will meet you after breakfast and drive you to Chem Chem, which is ideally located between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks, allowing you to visit both parks during your stay here.

Famous for its dramatic landscape of baobab trees, Tarangire National Park is an essential stop on any journey through Tanzania’s northern circuit. The Tarangire River cuts through the park and provides an important supply of water for the glorious resident animals, particularly during the dry season, when vast herds of elephant congregate on its banks. Despite being one of Tanzania’s smallest parks, nearby Lake Manyara National Park has plenty to offer the adventurous visitor. Its lake attracts countless flamingos and pelicans, whilst on land, the incredible tree-climbing lions are a popular attraction. Ideally located between the two, from Chem Chem - a three-camp property comprising luxurious tents - you will enjoy a game drive in both of these spectacular parks, stopping to refresh with delicious Chem Chem picnics. Other optional lodge excursions include meeting the Maasai, visiting local schools and joining a professional wildlife photographer in the bush.
