I jumped at the opportunity to travel to Mexico’s Los Cabos and now, I can’t wait to go back!
The overnight AeroMexico flight, including brief stop in Mexico City with onward two-hour hop to Los Cabos, proved a smooth journey and arriving early morning meant that we made the very most of our time there. Located at the southern tip of Mexico’s fabled Baja California Peninsula, Los Cabos delivers breathtaking coastal vistas, mountains, desert and incredible natural beauty. With San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas its two principal towns, world-class resorts and championship golf courses, it’s easy to see why Los Cabos is an established playground for adventurous tourists and Hollywood’s A-list.
With a plethora of activities beyond the beach, such as rock climbing, hiking, dune safaris, zip-lining, biking, golf and cultural attractions, there is never a shortage of adventure in Los Cabos. In addition to the Wild Canyon, with its UNESCO-protected Boca de Sierra National Park setting, the rocky landscape gives way to a raft of nautical attractions. From sailing and jet skiing, to whale watching, snorkelling and diving, plus the striking Cabo Arch, the marine life and aqua experiences of Los Cabos are simply world-class and a real highlight for any holiday.
Whilst the natural environment is compelling and Los Cabos’ activities are engaging, One&Only Palmilla provides pure sensory overload. With genuine and authentic hospitality, exquisite interiors, divine cuisine and a sublime spa, this luxury resort rides high in terms of its revered location, celebrity patronage and seamless service. From savouring breakfast at Breeze, dining at ‘SEARED’, sipping cocktails at the One&Only Lounge and relaxing within the sublime spa, guests cannot fail to be ‘wowed’ by this impressive resort.
I was fortunate enough to take part in a number of wonderful experiences during my brief stay in Los Cabos and I’d certainly recommend these to clients. Whilst one day was spent touring the Old Town of San Jose and having fun with a dune buggy excursion, another embarking on a cooking class with a top chef, my absolute favourite was taking to the water with marine experts Pelagic Fleet. No ordinary boat trip, guests are spirited to an expanse of water where the Sea of Cortes meets the Pacific Ocean — and the dynamic marine-life comes out to play. Donned in a wetsuit and delving into the water, to follow a rope from one boat to another, we were circled by the unlikely combination of a Mako Shark and Blue Shark. Seeing Orcas up close and listening to the passionate commentary of National Geographic marine experts, such as Jorge Hauser, was simply awesome. With seasonal sightings, insightful information, conservation initiatives and unique species, this was anything but a typical marine encounter! I absolutely loved it – and I’m keen to return in order to see a whale next time!
With the Los Cabos Tourist Board on hand to promote a wealth of attractions, AeroMexico providing easy access to the destination and stunning world-class resorts, to match the breathtaking natural treasures, Los Cabos is bound to be seen as more than just a beach location. So, taste authentic guacamole, savour ceviche and take your tequila amongst sublime Mexican style – it’s easy to do in Los Cabos!
If you’re seeking a luxury holiday where you can endlessly indulge at One&Only Palmilla, enjoy the thrills of a desert adventure, plus experience incredible marine encounters and biodiversity, then Los Cabos is definitely the destination for you.
