Croatia is fast becoming Europe’s number one destination for summer 2017. The ancient architecture, delectable cuisine and exceptional scenery have put Croatia firmly on the luxury travel map but this summer the appeal sizzles as never before.
Exclusively designed with active families in mind, our featured luxury property Sun Gardens Dubrovnik has announced the launch of their state-of-the-art Sports Academies, available from May half-term. This exceptional collection of first-class sports facilities brings a new, exciting dimension to the typical luxury family holiday.
Whether your budding sports stars are seeking to experience a new skill, with expert guidance at every step, or to return home having finessed their already superior skills, Sun Gardens Dubrovnik’s incredible array of sports academies are sure to have something to offer.
Appealing to a varied range of sporting interests, guests can choose from football, tennis, basketball, swimming or water polo academies whilst there is an outstanding sports camp for those who’d prefer a more general approach to interactive games and sports challenges.
Sun Gardens Dubrovnik’s Sports Academies are designed for children aged seven to fifteen years of age and the extensive range of programmes will commence from May Half-Term school holiday to 15th September 2017. The academy and sports camp itineraries will comprise between four and five weekly sessions, with lessons lasting between 45 to 90 minutes as appropriate for each age group.
Starting with the Football Academy, it is clear that the prestige of the Sun Gardens Dubrovnik’s Sports Academies is unrivalled. This year, junior footballers will have an opportunity to learn and play with Ognjen Vukojevića, a former member of the Croatian National Football team with champion’s league experience. Ognjen and his trainers team will teach the children football techniques, a professional approach to training and a valuable insight into the team mentality. Ognjen will be present and lead the Academy from mid June to mid July. Training is designed to mirror the same level of professional football and will include warm up techniques, coordination and speed drills, ball control, dribbling drills, free kicks training, penalty shooting training, crossing and corner kick training, passing, goalkeeping training. Sessions will include a maximum of twenty participants and upon completion each child will receive a certificate, medal and jersey.
Similarly, the Tennis Academy will be coordinated by professional coaches and focus on technique, coordination, speed drills, forehand and backhand training, service and volley training. Classes will feature a maximum of ten participants with four training sessions per week, culminating in a final tournament.
For basketball fans, the Basketball Academy is the ideal setting to learn from practiced players and coaches. Whether your child is seeking to learn fundamental techniques or improve their own skills, dedicated trainers will provide expert instruction and motivation, as well as fun socialising and the opportunity to make new friends.
In Dubrovnik, water polo has always been more than just a sport - it is a way of life. From an early age, children across Croatia learn to play this invigorating water sport. In a picturesque seaside setting, Sun Gardens Dubrovink offers children the perfect opportunity to learn basic techniques, improve their strength and stamina and, of course, enjoy the entire journey. Parents are advised that basic swimming skills are required for this academy.
Finally, for children who’d prefer a more varied approach to their sports training, the hotel’s signature Sports Camp offers a vibrant array of training and skills for all of the aforementioned sports, whilst encouraging each child to have fun, make new friends and return home with an invaluable sense of satisfaction at having tried something new.
As expected, the Sports Academies and Sports Camp are already proving a popular addition to Sun Gardens Dubrovnik’s excellent facilities and as a result places for the summer holiday are increasingly limited. Booking in advance is strongly advised.
